David O. Sacks is a research fellow at The Independent Institute and co-author of The Diversity Myth. He is Chief Operating Officer for Zenefits Insurance Services, former Chief Operating Officer at PayPal, Inc., and Founder and former Chief Executive Officer at Yammer, Inc.

He received his B.A. in economics from Stanford University and J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. While a student at Stanford University, he served as editor-in-chief of the weekly, The Stanford Review, and Campus, a national student newspaper. He later served as a research assistant for the late Judge Robert H. Bork, and he also worked as a legislative aide to former U. S. Representative Christopher Cox, at which time National Journal selected Mr. Sacks as one of Capitol Hill’s “rising stars.” His articles have appeared in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Times, National Review, Policy Review, and Academic Questions.

Mr. Sacks produced and financed the hit 2006 movie Thank You For Smoking, based on the book by Christopher Buckley, through his independent production company, Room 9 Entertainment, and the film was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards.
