Short biography
Marvin D. Schwartz is a lecturer at the Metropolitan Museum whose topics have been as varied as the museum's holdings. Trained at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University and as a fellow at the Henry Francis duPont Winterthur Museum, his interests have included decorative arts, as well as, painting and sculpture. His cutorial career included stints at the Detroit Institute of Fine Arts and the Brooklyn Museum. It was Mr. Schwartz, while curator at the Brooklyn Museum, who successfully negotiated with Emily Winthrop Miles for the gift of her magnificent collection of Wedgwood. Current interests include investigating eighteenth and nineteenth century pottery and porcelain
