This book is great for teaching many different concepts! These concepts can include genre, theme, character traits, and problem. The book follows the story of a badger who discovers a magical fan that children in the village possess. He tricks them and steals the fan to use for his own benefit. He works to solve people's problems for his own rewards and in the end it catches up with him and the badger learns that greed leads to misfortune. This book comes as a leveled text so it can be used with a variety of readers.… (more)

Not only was the book written in a manner that made the topic appealing, Katherine Bates is shown to be the intriguing woman that she was. A special point for me was that she was born and raised in Mass., and wound up becoming one of the original students of Wellesley college for women, so the setting was familiar to me.
An intensely loyal friend and intelligent student she became a professor and lecturer as well as a world traveler. And yet her main ambition was to have the time and space to simply write... Katherine Lee Bates was THE woman who wrote AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL!

This book was okay. It explained the story of Farmer Maude and Claude trying to find shelter from the rain outside. They go to their barn with their animals, but that ends up being a bad idea as well. Everyone eventually ends up in the Farmer's truck and bed of the truck. The book did include questions to check for understanding on the last page, as well as the desired answers.
