This book is targeted to those aspiring to enter into a career in business. The strength of the book is that it is written by someone with actual business experience. That is also the book’s weakness; it is only one person’s experience of doing business. It becomes tiresome reading of the author’s many talents and successes, though he does share his weaknesses and mistakes. The book’s message would have been stronger if examples from other business people had been included to reinforce the author’s advice. Business students would do well to especially pay attention to what the author has to say about what executives look for on a resume and in a job candidate when hiring new graduates. Heed the author’s advice. Also take to heart the message to be passionate about the work you pursue and focus on building lasting relationships. The author has much to say about what needs to be done to be successful in business but provides less detail about how to do what needs to be done. The book provides a general overview of the elements required for business success. For detailed descriptions of how to put those elements into practice, the reader will need to look elsewhere.… (more)
