It’s summer and the residents of Ebb are enduring the worst drought since the Dust Bowl. The only thing left is to hope for a miracle. It’s then that former salesman and apparent miracle worker Vernon L. Moore shows up. Joined by three traveling widows with debatable and mysterious pasts, Vernon’s come to sell some faith to Clement Tucker, a cold-hearted, mean-spirited businessman recently diagnosed with cancer. But wherever Vernon sets foot in Ebb, people beg him to pray for rain. Despite his seeming ability to work miracles after all, he’s saved the town twice already, and in the past he may or may not have raised a woman from the dead Vernon puts forth an ultimatum: to pray either for Clement’s life or for rain.
