I found this book to be riveting. I wasn't expecting the romance part after all it is a zombie book. However it is good to know that love will go on. The narrator is Krista, a teenager. This is the first book with Death to the Undead being the second and, I believe, final part. I recommend reading the books in order. I also would advise you to get both books. You will want to start the second right away.
Even with the mature theme of violence I would let a young teen read this. The author stayed true to the audience.… (more)

Wow. Happy to finish it but also sad to finish it. This is the second, (and, as far as I can tell, final) book. If you are thinking of reading this book be sure to pick up and read first, Life After the Undead. You really do need to read it first. I would place this book as a YA dystopian zombie thriller. The voice is Krista, a 17 year old who loses her parents on their way to safety. We know for sure that her Mom went down from zombies. Her Dad, well, a little more sketchy. I liked that. It lent authenticity to the story. In an apocalypse you aren't going to know exactly what happened to those you love. The book is well paced. It feels like it is going along quickly but then you realize that more time past. That was another plus for me as I feel it helped me realize how Krista was experiencing things. She had no way of telling how time was really moving. Neither did I. In book one Krista had met a guy that she liked. I know, romance in a zombie book? Well, yes. Life does go on. No matter what changes some things remain the same. I was impressed with the author in their handling of the romance. Things moved slowly and there was no sex involved. The author kept the audience in mind. The same went with language. I would let a younger teen read this. There is violence and gore. I would have been greatly disappointed if there wasn't. The ending kind of raps up quickly and neatly. I was left with wondering how things would look in the future. Perhaps the author will one day decide to let us see how the rebuilding of society went. Things are not perfect now. In an apocalypse things will be far less perfect. But the future...one always has hope that the future will remember past failures while incorporating past successes to bring us to a better place.… (more)

My first impression...curious, VERY curious. I'm not a zombie fan, by any means, HOWEVER the approach in this one is rather interesting. It takes us to a world not so far removed from our own that we wouldn't recognize it, and places us smack dab in the middle of life after a zombie apocalypse that was started by mankind.

That's right. What started as something with good intentions quickly got away from those "in control" and blossomed into the monster that it is today. Go figure. Flash forward a bit and those in adulthood are few, while the workforce is filled in with the children that survived...and are still trying to. They're still trying to figure out how to eradicate the disease and possibly turn the zombies back into humans. our main man Caleb survived a whole host of gruesomeness and still lives with the storms it created within him, but the reasons behind his survival were chalked up to luck and skill...until now. It seems there is more to him than meets the eye, but don't worry...he's still on someone's menu as he attempts to survive long enough to secure his own future as well as quite possibly the fate of the world.

All in all, the writing was smooth, the story line was without holes, and it left you wanting more in the best way possible. Now I will say that the whole BZ's and RBZ's thing is a little humorous but while definitely a stretch of the imagination, they still stand squarely on their own two grossly sized feet. If you're a YA Paranormal fan, love conspiracy theories, or simply have a hankering for zombie culture, this should be on your summer reading list!

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.
Somehow I managed to get into this without knowing it was a sequel. Not to worry, because it did okay as a standalone... though I do intend to go back to the first. Thr2ee story is well written and there is good character development. Definitely a great book, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
