A rough guide to writing grammatical English, from the American point of view.. It seems to have been quite useful as a guide to me. However, the useful bits are dispersed among humorous essays about malapropisms and the bad habits of radio announcers of the 1950's.

H. Allen Smith and his wife took a trip through the modern America west of the Mississippi. This trip is overlaid with smith mulling over his childhood memories of various fictional western novels, films and pulp fiction. It is a glimpse into the American mid-twentieth century mind.
