Young Q (short for Quest) and his new stepsister Angela are getting to know one another on a giant tour bus after their respective parents' (his mom, her dad) whirlwind courtship, record deal, concert tour, and marriage. A really lovely YA book about an unusual topic, the Japanese invasion of Burma in WWII. More than that though, this book is abuot loyalty and friendships, elephants and Buddhist monks, secret passageways and spies. It's very exciting and suspenseful at times, but the beautiful writing and balance of characters makes it more than the typical boys' war novel.
