Read to a Year 1 class. They loved it and made links with Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

The language used in this book had an African feeling to it. The names of the characters were African names. The book was written with repetitive words, so children would get engaged into the book. Lastly, the pictures in the book were illustrated well to go along with the book. I liked how this book can teach children a lesson at the end of it. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book.

That is until Ravan, the ten headed demon captures Rama's wife. Ravan is no match for Rama and his monkey army. He wins back his wife and they return home where they find our Rama's father passed away and he must become the king. This is the first time I have heard this ancient tale from India, but it is said this story blesses all who hear it. I enjoyed this story, it was a fun read.… (more)
