Daniel Grego will be reading from his new book The Gate of Heaven Is Everywhere: New & Selected Poems. Margaret Swedish will be reading selections from her works.
Daniel Grego is the Executive Director of TransCenter for Youth, Inc., a nonprofit agency that operates small, innovative high schools in Milwaukee. He is the author of several books of poetry and essays. His poems and essays have appeared in numerous periodicals and anthologies including Gathering Place of the Waters: Thirty Milwaukee Poets, Everywhere All the Time, Life Learning, You Are Still Being Lied To, Stay Solid: A Radical Handbook for Youth, and A whole which is greater: Why the Wisconsin “Uprising” Failed. He and his wife, Debra Loewen, the founder and Artistic Director of Wild Space Dance Company, live on fifty-five acres along the Rock River in Dodge County, Wisconsin.
Margaret Swedish is the author of Living beyond the "end of the world": A Spirituality of Hope and co-author of Like grains of wheat: A Spirituality of Solidarity. Her poetry appears in the recent collection, A Maryknoll Book of Poetry. She was the director of the Religious Task Force on Central America and Mexico in Washington DC. In 2004, she stepped down from her role at the RTF to take up a new challenge addressing the ecological crisis as it impacts US society.
