The Artful Storybook: Mixed-Media Artists Create… by Terry Taylor
Beautiful inspiring storybook presentations, but quite complicated and time consuming for one to create. It would be a treat to see the actual books in person as they're very embellished and works of art.
Altered art is simply the result of taking a found object and changing it in some intriguing or surprising way to make an artistic statement of your own (book jacket).
Some of the items in the book are really bizarre, but it strengths come from the variety of techniques shown to making your own altered art project. An interesting read in-and-of itself as well as an art instruction book with simple instructions and illustrations. I will put this book aside and go out and find interesting do-dads and then come back and attempt to make beautiful works of odd and fascinating art.… (more)

While serving as a high school librarian, we had books that were dated, worn, duplicates, etc. and just could not sell or trash them. I discovered this book and the idea of altered books at a Library workshop. My students and the art teacher embraced the craft and made many wonderful creations out of books destined for dumpsters. About the only limit is your imagination.
Excellent book with lots of creative ideas. Reuse old things is the central theme. Detailed booklet signature stitching details in the appendix.
