Short biography
Sun Tzu (also rendered as Sun Zi) was a Chinese military general, strategist and philosopher who lived in the Spring and Autumn Period of ancient China. The name he is best known by is actually an honorific which means "Master Sun": His birth name was Sun Wu and he was known outside of his family by his courtesy name Changqing. He is traditionally credited as the author of The Art of War, an extremely influential ancient Chinese book on military strategy. Sun Tzu has had a significant impact on Chinese and Asian history and culture, both as the author of The Art of War and as a legendary historical figure.

Three Chinese classics in Philosophy and Theory (March 2023)

A specific translation of The Art of War, with some notes and interpretations from scholars/experts. No other modern-day application tips. You'll learn:
• Various strategic and tactical considerations in warfare, including how to: outwit and outmaneuver the enemy, make every move count, use the 2-pronged approach of defence and offence, exploit the enemy’s weaknesses and leverage your strengths, take advantage of varying situations and terrain, “read” your enemy and counter them, use deception and espionage, and minimize the costs of warfare.
• Specific tactics for troops movement, positioning, communication, morale, timing, strategic deception, engagement, combat, and use of terrain.

Thanks to Sun Tzu, I will never find myself disordered and perplexed if ever I find myself in a dilemma about the means of conquering an opposing force. I'm so relieved I now have these concepts under my belt where I might thwart any unsuspecting foe.

Amazing piece of literature that can be implemented even in our modern lives, especially if you're part of some competition.

An incredible historical document, that at times reads like a contemporary self help book.

While the content might be somewhat generic and subject to various interpretations, the style and method of explaining war strategy is somehow timeless.
