Short biography
Marie Louise acted as a go-between for her cousin Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria and Mary Vetsera, his lover, who died together at Mayerling. She was a daughter of Duke Ludwig of Bavaria and actress Henriette Mendel, born before their morganatic marriage, and afterwards legitimated. She became a friend and confidante of her paternal aunt, the Empress Elisabeth, who arranged her marriage in 1877 to Count Georg Larisch of Moennich. The couple had five children and divorced in 1896. Marie Louise married a few more times. She published her sensational memoirs My Past in 1913, although supposedly being paid a pension for not doing so.
