Already a recognized speaker on antislavery, civil and women’s rights circuits, Sojourner Truth (1797-1886) relocated to Michigan in 1857. She dedicated her life to making the world better and captured the American imagination. Margaret Washington’s presentation will highlight Sojourner Truth’s life and activities as one of Michigan’s most famous citizens. Margaret Washington, a professor at Cornell University, specializes in African American history and culture, African American women and Southern History.
