Larry Watson, acclaimed and award-winning author of several best-selling novels, will discuss his new book, American Boy, on Monday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Bookstore in Coffman Memorial Union, 300 Washington Ave. S.E. Minneapolis. American Boy is the story of a young-man’s coming-of-age in rural Minnesota during the early 1960s. Matthew Garth, a teenage boy from the small-town of Willow Falls, Minnesota, is shocked into maturity by a moment of sudden and unexpected violence. Matthew finds himself drawn into a vortex of greed, manipulation, and ultimately betrayal as he is fueled by his desire for a mysterious woman. Watson masterfully portrays the dark side of small-town America. Watson will sign copies of his book following the discussion. This event is free and open to the public.
