This series for beginning readers features Hitty, the beloved doll introduced in "Hitty: Her First Hundred Years" by Rachel Field in 1929. This first installment finds Hitty joining her owner, Nell, the daughter of a plantation owner prior to the Civil War. Nell's best friend is Sarina, one of the house slaves. Though she's not supposed to, Nell teaches Sarina to read.

With all the characters of Sesame Street wanting their broken things fixed, Luis, who runs the Fix-it Shop, doesn't have time to work on his broken clock.
