Short biography
Ghislaine zu Windisch-Graetz was born comtesse d'Arschot-Schoonhoven. In 1934, at age 21, she married Franz Joseph zu Windisch-Graetz, with whom she had two children. She wrote a biography of her mother-in-law, Archduchess Elisabeth-Marie of Austria, the only daughter of Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria and his wife Princess Stephanie, originally entitled The Orphan of Mayerling. Another book also called Die rote Erzherzogin or L'archiduchesse rouge (The Red Archduchess) was written by historian Friedrich Weissensteiner.
