This book is practical in that it relates to all interested readers, particularly those with health issues. This South Indian author, as a very ill child, was unable to participate in athletic and other activities. Later he had to quit school temporarily because of illness. He found a teacher who got him well enough to resume school after two months of Yoga therapy. When the author was 15, he found a teacher who made him well-versed in Yoga and Pranayama (Science of Breath). This teacher requested him to go to the West where Yoga is badly needed. This is how the author came to Europe.

The book has two parts. Part 1 describes the therapeutic and psychic effects of many ancient asanas (Yoga postures). Part 2 explains breathing exercises and their benefits. There are 74 black and white photos of Yoga postures performed by the author.

This is one of the best books available in English on the therapeutic effects of Yoga.
