This book does an adequate job relating events in regard to ten different catgories, such as advertising, architecture, fashion, food and drink, leisure activities, literature (not very profound), music, performing arts, travel, and visual arts. Rural life is barely mentioned, so since my time in the 1930s was very rural I did not feel too caught by some of what the authors said. But it is pleasant reading and some of what is said is informative. No shopping carts at grocery stores till 1937? I cannot remember how that went in the bigger grocery stores we went to--but I was only 8 or 9 in 1937.… (more)
