Character description

Agnes Wickfield is one of two heroines in the latter part of David Copperfield. After meeting David and growing up in Canterbury with him, Agnes becomes his confidante and "angel", his sister-figure. Her intelligence and beauty draws the attentions of Uriah Heep, but Agnes swears she will never marry him, despite her loyalty to her father. Agnes remains close to David through his marriage but struggles with her secret love for him, until they are finally united at the end of the novel.
