Dame Mary Barbara Hamilton Cartland McCorquodale, DBE, CStJ, (9 July 1901 – 21 May 2000) was an English author, known for her numerous romance novels. Her daughter Raine, married the 8th Earl Spencer on 14 July 1976, and became the stepmother of Lady Diana Frances Spencer, the future Princess of Wales.
