Benjamin Heineman graduated magna cum elude and Phi Beta Kappa fro Harvard, where he was editorial chairman of the Crimson.   He attended Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship and then went to Yale Law School where he became editor in chief of the Yale Law Review.   He became a clerk for Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart.  He later became general counsel for General Electric, where he supervised over 1,100 lawyers.
