Character description

Charles VIII, King of France (1470–1498), succeeded to the throne at age 13. During his minority, his older sister Anne de Beaujeu acted as regent. He married the great heiress Anne of Brittany in order to unite her duchy with his kingdom and avoid encirclement of France by the Habsburgs. He invaded Italy but was driven back, and then died suddenly after hitting his head on a doorframe.
