Character description

Diane de Poitiers (1499-1566), Duchess of Valentinois, was the long-time lover and companion of King Henri II of France. She influenced not only the king and his policies but his household and his children's upbringing as well. She was 20 years older than the king but continued to fascinate him until his death in 1559.
