Dorothy Park Benjamin, wife of the famous operatic tenor Enrico Caruso, was the daughter of a wealthy New York patent lawyer who disapproved of her choice of husband. The 25-year-old bride and the 45-year-old groom married August 20, 1918, Their marriage produced a child, Gloria Caruso (1919–1999).
