Description | Edward V (1470–????) was the uncrowned king of England for two months in 1483 and one of the "Princes in the Tower." He was the elder son of King Edward IV of England and Elizabeth Woodville. After his father's death, his uncle Richard, Duke of Gloucester (later Richard III) took custody of Edward and his younger brother Richard, Duke of York. They were sent to the royal lodgings in the Tower of London. Their whereabouts afterwards and eventual fate is unknown and one of the most fascinating historical mysteries.
