Character description

Elsie Edith Bowerman (18 December 1889 - 18 October 1973) was a lawyer, suffragette and RMS Titanic survivor.   Working as a hospital orderly, she joined the Allied retreat from Russia in 1917.  She was called to the bar in 1924, one of the first woman barristers, and later founded the Woman's Voluntary Service and represented women at the United Nations.
