Character description

George Ashmun (25 December 1804 - 16 July 1870) was a United States Representative (Whig, Massachusetts) from 1845 - 1851. He later joined the Republican party, and presided over the 1860 convention that nominated Abraham Lincoln for President. He visited Lincoln briefly before Lincoln left for Ford's Theatre on the night of his assassination.
