Character description

George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham (1592–1628) was a courtier and military commander of King James I, who ennobled him and gave him tremendous power. He was reputed to be James's lover. He continued in a position of influence into the reign of Charles I. He was assassinated by a disgruntled army officer, John Felton.
