Character description

James Stevens (1892-1971): Poet and fakelorist. He wrote the well-known song "The Frozen Logger," and also published the book Paul Bunyan. Stevens claimed that the latter was based on genuine lumberjack tales. In fact the Paul Bunyan legend is mostly fakelore, beginning in the early twentieth century with "Round River Drive," and Stevens probably did more than any other person to embellish the legend.
