Character description

1.) Jane Anderson was married to a prosperous blacksmith, George Anderson. He suffered a series of severe illness, which turned out to be sub-lethal doses of strychnine, before being bludgeoned to death in their backyard May 15, 1856. Jane was accused of adultery with his nephew, Theodore Anderson, and they were tried for murder. Abraham Lincoln was one of their team of lawyers. They were acquitted and the case was never solved.
