Description | Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, Marshal of France and later King of Sweden and Norway (1763–1844). He served Napoleon Bonaparte for many years until 1810, when he was elected heir to the Swedish throne. He was known in Sweden as King Karl XIV Johan and in Norway as Karl III Johan. He married Désirée Clary, and the royal family of Sweden are their direct descendants. |
