Character description

John Lloyd, in connection with the Lincoln assassination, was a former Washington, D.C. policeman who rented Surratt's tavern in Surrattsville (now Clinton), Maryland from the widowed Mary Surratt.  It functioned as something of a safe house for Confederate agents, and Lloyd stored weapons and supplies for the conspirators against Abraham Lincoln led by John Wilkes Booth.  Lloyd testified at the trial.
