Character description

Olympia Mancini, comtesse de Soissons (1638-1708), was one of the nieces of Cardinal Mazarin, chief minister of France. Together they were known at the French court as the "Mazarinettes." He arranged her 1657 marriage to Prince Eugène-Maurice of Savoy-Carignano, comte de Soissons; the famous soldier Prince Eugene of Savoy was their son. She was acccused of involvement in the "Affair of the Poisons" in 1679.
