Character description

Cardinal Maffeo Barberini (1568-1644) became Pope Urban VIII in 1623. He was responsible for silencing Galileo for his theory on heliocentrism. Pope Urban VIII built the magnificent Palazzo Barberini in Rome, which today houses the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, one of the most important painting collections in Europe.
