Character description

Richard FitzAlan, 4th Earl of Arundel (died 1397): Political opponent of King Richard II and brother of an Archbishop of Canterbury. Born probably around 1346, he was one of the "Lords Appellant" who opposed the government and reorganized the regime in the 1380s. He also fought in the Hundred Years' War, having a mixed record which included one substantial naval victory but several other failures. In the 1390s, when Richard II moved against the Lords Appellant, Arundel was executed.
