The Professor and the Parson: A Story of Desire, Deceit and Defrocking by Adam Sisman

Character description

Robert Peters, born Robert Michael Parkins, (died 2005, Kettering General Hospital) was a de-frocked minister, a plagiarist, a conman, and a bigamist who married at least seven or eight women. He was also engaged to a number of women whom he abandoned before the prospective weddings took place. Although not a handsome man, women seem to have found him very attractive. He was dubbed "the Romeo Rev" by the popular press. He could be very winning when he wanted something, but he treated those he considered to be beneath him harshly and contemptuously.
