Character description

Roger Jones (February 25, 1831–January 26, 1889) served as Inspector General of the U.S. Army from 1888 to 1889. His father by the same name served as Adjutant General of the U.S. Army from 1825 to 1852.  He was in command of Harper's Ferry arsenal in April 1861 with less than 50 men.  When Virginia seceded, and southern troops tried to seize the weapons, he destroyed them and retreated with his men to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
