Description | Dr. Russell Barton was British born and emigrated to the United States. He was called in by the prosecution shortly before the trial of Joseph G. Christopher after their original expert witness withdrew because of illness. Barton was extremely controversial for some of his ideas on treatment of the mentally ill, his enthusiasm for testifying for the prosecution, and his denial that the Nazis deliberately killed the prisoners at Bergen-Belsen. He declared Christopher to be legally sane. |
