Sir Walter Raleigh (c. 1552 – 29 October 1618, beheading) was an English aristocrat, writer, poet, soldier, scalawag, courtier, and explorer. Perhaps best known as the man who laid his cloak over a mudpuddle for Elizabeth 1, Queen of England.
