Character description

Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl of Essex (c. 1485–1540), served as King Henry VIII's chief minister, succeeding his mentor Cardinal Wolsey. He was one of the architects of the English Reformation and profited greatly from the dissolution of the monasteries.
