From New York Times bestselling author Joyce Maynard comes the eagerly anticipated follow-up to her beloved novel Count the Ways—a complex story of three generations of a family and its remarkable, resilient, indomitable matriarch, Eleanor.

Following the death of her former husband, Cam, fifty-four-year-old Eleanor has moved back to the New Hampshire farm where they raised three children to care for their brain-injured son, Toby, now an adult. Toby's older brother, Al, is married and living in Seattle with his wife; their sister, Ursula, lives in Vermont with her husband and two children. Although all appears stable, old resentments, anger, and bitterness simmer just beneath the surface.

How the Light Gets In follows Eleanor and her family through fifteen years (2010 to 2024) as their story plays out against a uniquely American backdrop and the events that transform their world (climate change, the January 6th insurrection, school violence) and shape their lives (later-life love, parental alienation, steadfast friendship). With her trademark sensitivity and insight, Joyce Maynard paints an indelible portrait of characters both familiar and new making their way over rough, messy, and treacherous terrain to find their way to what is, for each, a place to call "home."

A perilous and fantastical satire of banned books, secret archives, and the looming eye of an all-powerful government.

The new book censor hasn't slept soundly in weeks. By day he combs through manuscripts at a government office, looking for anything that would make a book unfit to publish--allusions to queerness, unapproved religions, any mention of life before the Revolution. By night the characters of literary classics crowd his dreams, and pilfered novels pile up in the house he shares with his wife and daughter. As the siren song of forbidden reading continues to beckon, he descends into a netherworld of resistance fighters, undercover booksellers, and outlaw librarians trying to save their history and culture.

Reckoning with the global threat to free speech and the bleak future it all but guarantees, Bothayna Al-Essa marries the steely dystopia of Orwell's 1984 with the madcap absurdity of Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, resulting in a dreadful twist worthy of Kafka. The Book Censor's Library is a warning call and a love letter to stories and the delicious act of losing oneself in them.

Death and hypnosis are intertwined in two novelettes by Rafael Sabatini.

Today, few people would recognize the name “Rafael Sabatini”, but in the 1920s and 1930s he was one of the most popular authors in the world. He was called “the Alexandre Dumas of Modern Fiction” and “the Prince of Storytellers”, and he almost singlehandedly resurrected the genre of the swashbuckler both in literature and on film. Historical romances and adventure stories were Sabatini’s stock-in-trade and the focal point of the majority of his literary writings, but for a brief time, at the beginning of his writing career, he must have had at least a passing interest in hypnotism, for he would write, not one, but two stories dealing with the subject.

The first of his hypnotic tales was The Avenger, which appeared in the March 1909 issue of Gunter’s Magazine. In The Avenger, we meet Roger Galliphant, a man with medical training and a strong interest in psychology and psychic research. Galliphant is also a powerful hypnotist who, while performing a simple demonstration of hypnotism in front of friends, discovers that an acquaintance of his, James Chester, has used hypnotism to commit at least two murders. Roger Galliphant, knowing the difficulty of proving Chester’s crimes in a court of law, plans on avenging the murder victims’ deaths, and he does so by using his own hypnotic powers against those of Chester’s—and thus a battle between hypnotists ensues. Roger Galliphant also appears in Sabatini’s second tale dealing with hypnosis, The Dream, a novelette published in the August 1912 issue of The Story-Teller. Galliphant appears toward the end of the story when he is needed as an eminent authority on hypnotism, and he must decide if Francis Orpington was under the influence of hypnotic suggestion when he killed an unarmed man.

A tale of two girls—one living in a parable, the other in Manhattan

Ani, journeying across a great distance accompanied by a stolen kitten, meets many people along her way, but her encounters only convince her that she is meant to keep searching. Annamae, journeying from childhood to young adulthood alongside her mother, older brother, and the denizens of her Manhattan neighborhood, never outgrows her yearning for a friend she cannot describe. From their different worlds, Ani and Annamae reach across the divide, perhaps to discover—or perhaps to create—each other.

Told in two mirrored narratives that culminate in a new beginning, To & Fro unleashes the wonders and mysteries of childhood in a profound exploration of identity, spirituality, and community.

“Leah Hager Cohen’s magnificent turn-and-read novel To & Fro is a tour de force peek into the wilds and wounds of childhood.” —Foreword Reviews (starred review)

To & Fro is a luminous, charming, and utterly original novel filled with pleasures and provocations at every turn. Through some strange alchemy, Cohen has combined character-driven storytelling with brilliant philosophical forays into what it feels like to decipher the world, honor its mysteries, and stay open to its aches and gifts.” —Elizabeth Graver, author of Kantika

“Cohen’s writing is a wonder. Here are worlds nested inside worlds, each unfolding like a delicate paper staircase leading to destinations unknown. To & Fro is a gorgeous, captivating riddle of a book.” —Rachel Kadish, author of The Weight of Ink

Series: Fae Destiny (1)

All her life, Eala Duir, a young college professor, has skirted the edges of a fantasy world.

Visions of folk stories coming alive in hearth flames and vivid daydreams where carousel horses ride off to battle, drove Eala to pursue an academic life specializing in tales of the Fae. After witnessing Eala's encounter with a ghost girl at an allegedly haunted castle, Sionnach reveals his own ties to the Fae realm. He insists Eala's ability to connect with the supernatural proves she's been sent to partner with him and fulfill a centuries-old otherworldly quest ordained by the mighty Finnbheara, King of the Connacht Fae.

As the folk and faerie fiction that Eala adores collides with reality, she must decide whether to embrace it or flee back to the safe and predictable life she thought she always wanted.

Set in 1955, this final installment in Taylor’s best-selling Scranton Trilogy explores a family’s legacy of loss and a sometimes mystical vision of a better tomorrow.

Fifty-year-old Violet has had a good life. The love of an honest man. The joys of motherhood. Yet, even in 1955, her heart still aches over the death of her sister more than four decades earlier. Lately, Violet can’t help thinking about the little girl, picturing her in the moments before the accident, wearing that pleated white dress and a hair bow to match. Maybe if her big sister were here now, she could tell Violet what to do about the secret she’s been keeping from her daughter Daisy.

Daisy has a secret of her own. When she first moved back home to Scranton, she wasn’t ready to give up her dreams of performing in Atlantic City. Then she met Johnny, a man who needs music as much as she does. Her first real chance at love. If only they can find the courage to buck small-town thinking when it comes to interracial dating.

Small-town thinking. Zethray had seen her fair share of it. That’s why she advertised a room to rent in The Negro Motorist Green Book. Give folks a safe place to stay away from home. That’s how Johnny ended up at her door. Now he’s sweet on some young woman. Not that he told Zethray, but she knows. The dead like to talk, and she listens. If only her mother would tell the secret behind her shocking death. Instead, she stands silent, while that little girl with the bow in her hair runs wild.

Rain Breaks No Bones, is the final novel in the Scranton Trilogy, starting with Sing in the Morning, Cry at Night, followed by All Waiting Is Long. Though the novels are connected, they each stand alone.

With fasting at an all-time high in popularity, here is the first deep exploration into the surprising history and science behind the practice—essential to many religions and philosophies.

Whether for philosophical, political, or health-related reasons, fasting marks a departure from daily routine. It involves doing less but doing less in a radical way. Based on extensive historical, scientific, and cultural research and reporting, The Fast illuminates the numerous facets of this act of self-deprivation. John Oakes interviews doctors, spiritual leaders, activists, and others who guide him through this practice—and embarks on fasts of his own—to deliver a book that supplies readers curious about fasting with profound new understanding, appreciation, and inspiration.

In recent years, fasting has become increasingly popular for a variety of reasons--from health advocates who see fasting as a method to lose weight or to detox, to the faithful who fast in prayer, to seekers pursuing mindfulness, to activists using hunger strikes as an effective means of peaceful protest. Notable fasters include Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, Gandhi, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Emily Dickinson, Mark Twain, Cesar Chavez, and a long list of others who have drawn on its power over the ages and across borders and cultures.

The Fast looks at the complex science behind the jaw-dropping biological phenomena that occur inside the human body when we fast. Metabolic switching induced by fasting can prompt repair and renewal down to the molecular level; such fasting can provide benefits for those suffering from obesity and diabetes, cancer, epilepsy, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and more. Prolonged fasting can serve both to reinvigorate the immune system and to protect it against damage. Beyond the physical experience, fasting can be a great collective unifier, an instant leveler that connects us purely by virtue of being an act accessible to all, and it has been adopted by religions and political movements all over the world for millennia. Fasting is central to holy seasons and days such as Lent (Christianity), Ramadan (Islam), Yom Kippur (Judaism), Uposatha (Buddhism), and Ekadashi (Hinduism). On an individual level, devout ascetics who master self-deprivation to an extreme are believed to be closer to the divine, ascending to enlightenment or even sainthood.

Through the ages, fasting in the name of justice—a hunger strike—has signaled purity of intent and action. It's a tactic that demands commitment, serves to highlight the cruelty of those in authority, and appeals to shared values: that we're united by a common humanity and we deserve to be heard. Advocates who have waged hunger strikes include Gandhi in India, Bobby Sands in Ireland, and the Taxi Workers Alliance in New York City.

Fasting reminds us of the virtues of holding back, of not consuming all that we can. Ultimately, this book shows us that fasting is about much more than food: it is about taking control of your life in new and empowering ways and reconsidering your place in the world.

Now he's physically ready to get back on the ice, but his coach is concerned Nick isn't doing as well, mentally, as he says he is. Case in point- Nick's apartment is completely empty, apart from a single chair and a mattress on the floor.

To prove he's fine, really, Nick hires Alyssa Compton, an up-and-coming interior designer, to decorate his space. Alyssa's thrilled at the chance to prove herself to her demanding boss-with job security at last, maybe she can finally put down roots and create a home for herself too. But Nick turns out to be infuriatingly stubborn and impossible to work with, and just when Alyssa decides to throw in the towel on the whole thing, Nick shows up for her in a way she never could have expected.

The icy path ahead of these two lost souls may be slippery and cracking, but when it comes to love, sometimes all you need is someone on your team.

A longing for the sea that she didn’t understand. After being pushed over the edge, she runs, taking her destiny in her own hands for the first time in her life.

They can’t help themselves by the bonds of fate that tie them together. Not even as they deny each other their attraction.

After all, a tyrant’s daughter and a scorned captain couldn’t possibly work. Could it?

Despite it all, Maeve saw that the only constant… was Captain Leviathan.

Re-live Corvette's early years at the drag strip!

Famously known as "America's sports car," the Chevrolet Corvette came to market in 1953. That same year, the newly established National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) hosted its first event. The Corvette was not intended for quarter-mile drag racing, and it appeared to be completely at odds with the sport. Early equipment included an underpowered Blue Flame 6-cylinder motor and automatic transmission. However, the two have become forever entwined.

The Corvette brought an element of class and style to drag racing. In the showroom and on the street, it has always been unique. It is truly American. Likewise, the uniqueness that sets it apart from everything else also meant that it had no natural competition on the drag strip. However, that fact didn't dampen enthusiasm. Indeed, the NHRA and other governing bodies introduced Sports Car divisions in the late 1950s, catering to both stock and modified vehicles. Naturally, these classes were packed with Corvettes.

Racing historian Steve Holmes breaks new ground by unearthing the complete early history of the Corvette in drag racing. Quarter-Mile Corvettesfocuses on the period from 1953 to 1975, which spans the first two decades of Corvette V-8 production. Fittingly, this was also the era considered by many to be the greatest in drag racing's history, and Corvettes encapsulated the vibrancy of the period in a way that will never be repeated.

Certainly, Chevrolet never intended for the Corvette to become a quarter-mile terror, but today, its nameplate has become one of the longest running in all of drag racing.

A stirring, comprehensive look at the state of women in the workforce—why women's progress has stalled, how our economy fosters unproductive competition, and how we can fix the system that holds women back.

In an era of supposed great equality, women are still falling behind in the workplace. Even with more women in the workforce than in decades past, wage gaps continue to increase. It is the most educated women who have fallen the furthest behind. Blue-collar women hold the most insecure and badly paid jobs in our economy. And even as we celebrate high-profile representation—women on the board of Fortune 500 companies and our first female vice president—women have limited recourse when they experience harassment and discrimination.

Fair Shake: Women and the Fight to Build a Just Economy explains that the system that governs our economy—a winner-take-all economy—is the root cause of these myriad problems. The WTA economy self-selects for aggressive, cutthroat business tactics, which creates a feedback loop that sidelines women. The authors, three legal scholars, call this feedback loop "the triple bind": if women don't compete on the same terms as men, they lose; if women do compete on the same terms as men, they're punished more harshly for their sharp elbows or actual misdeeds; and when women see that they can't win on the same terms as men, they take themselves out of the game (if they haven't been pushed out already). With odds like these stacked against them, it's no wonder women feel like, no matter how hard they work, they can't get ahead.

Fair Shake is not a "fix the woman" book; it's a "fix the system" book. It not only diagnoses the problem of what's wrong with the modern economy, but shows how, with awareness and collective action, we can build a truly just economy for all.

What is overlanding? Wikipedia states, "Overlanding is self-reliant overland travel to remote destinations where the journey is the principal goal. Typically, it is accomplished with mechanized off-road-capable transport (from bicycles to trucks) where the principal form of lodging is camping. It often lasts for extended periods of time (months to years) and spans international boundaries."

Overlanding did not originate in America, and it is a little different here. You would be hard-pressed to find a bicycle out in the desert, and most people don't go overlanding for quite that long. However, the spirit of the activity is the same.

Do you want to give overlanding a try? Great! You will need some gear.

In The Overlanding Vehicle Builder's Guide, veteran racer, off-roader, and journalist Don Alexander provides a terrific overview of what to consider when building your overlanding rig. This includes the planned duration of the trip, the number of people in your party, how far off the beaten path you want to go, and the creature comforts you require.

Understanding those wants and needs shapes what gear you need for the best experience. Covered are the strengths and weaknesses of the types of vehicles themselves, modifications to the vehicles to make them more capable, accessories (lighting, camping gear, food and water storage, etc.), and equipment for trail mishaps and recovery. Driving techniques and trail rules and etiquette are also included.

If you are ready to build a rig or just want to know more about the hobby, this book is a great guide to help you get started.

In a Steampunk Oxford, Ignatius and Indigo are both agents for the Union Jacks, a secret organisation.

The role of the Union is to protect the British Empire, which is at the height of its powers, and help in its technological advances. They have discovered the existence of the mystical Book of Consciousness written by the creator of the cosmos, the genderless Omnisoul. The book is the history of everything that is, that has been and that will be. The agents are aided by Skye, who accidentally calls forth seven merciless immortals called the Charon.

Known as the Beautiful and the Damned, the Charon are the Infernal Dukes of Hell, created to carry out the will of the Omisoul. But they are tired of their immortality and want to end their existence. Elsewhere, the sorcerer Ragnar of Roc has conjured a hole in spacetime, allowing the draconic Elder God Calabi Ya to re-enter the cosmos from the Ghost Worlds. He is as old as the Omnisoul and wants the book to learn his destiny. The two Union Jacks leave Oxford and are taken on a journey across the cosmos in the great ship Taraka, which sails through space and time.

Ignatius and Indigo are mere pawns in the cosmic ocean of fate, carried to fabled places, witness to bloody massacres, and half-willing conspirators in the Charon’s plot to thwart the Omnisoul’s plan and defeat the protectors of the Well at the Centre of Time.

Brace yourself for this candid and darkly funny sequel to Lynn Walker’s award-winning book, Midnight Calling: A Memoir of a Drug Smuggler’s Daughter.

Fiercely determined to live without drugs and alcohol, Lynn has rebuilt her life—survived, somehow, her dad and his cocaine—but she can’t seem to find all the pages to life’s instruction manual.

With wit and insight, she takes us on a journey, and what a trip it is! Knocking over chairs and trying not to drink vodka in a Russian castle. Peeing next to a wild grizzly bear. Cocaine-addicted lab rats. Trudging through the wilderness of relationships in search of this thing called love.

Even if you’ve never struggled with addiction (or love), you’ll find humor and wisdom in this very human, true story of how we can use just about anything—booze, relationships, even potato chips—to try to change the way we feel.

A Perfectly Good Fantasy is an authentic and stubbornly hopeful memoir but be prepared—you just might catch a glimpse of yourself on this wild ride.

This is the story of two cousins: one with stars in her eyes, the other with her eyes on the stars…

Beatrice is a stubborn, no-nonsense astronomy professor at a small college in wine country. While working toward her tenure, she spends an inordinate amount of time trying to avoid Ben, an annoying librarian she believes wronged her when they were students. Their rapid-fire exchanges could almost be mistaken for chemistry, if he hadn’t done that unspeakable thing so many years ago.

Her younger cousin Heron is a wistful student in her final year of college. The opposite of Beatrice, she is a hopeless romantic, pinning her hopes on a future with her boyfriend Charlie.

When Charlie proposes to Heron, Bea is worried her younger cousin’s needs are taking a backseat to his ambitions. Heron responds to her cousin’s criticism with a matchmaking scheme designed to show Bea the upside of romance.

As Heron and Bea deal with the fallout from a campus scandal, each finds herself questioning everything she thought she knew about the best course for the future. Eventually, each woman must make a choice: Bea between the comfortable role of merry spinster or a fulfilling partnership; Heron between marriage to Charlie or reaching for a new dream.

Amy Dressler’s whip-smart debut novel is not to be missed, a tour de force of female empowerment, body-positivity, and family friendship as she turns Shakespeare upside down in an unexpected and brilliant way for a new generation of women.

Eventually the past must give up its dead...

When William Garrett's estranged father dies under mysterious circumstances—and makes a heinous accusation against him—Will must journey to a place that has haunted him since childhood, a place he vowed never to return: Ravenswood Hall.

But memories of the past are the least of Will's troubles. Stories of murder and witchcraft hinder Will's efforts to settle the estate and clear his name, and at the heart of it all is a Spanish painter named Lenora Laveau. Now a fixture of the crumbling hall, she claims to have witnessed Will's father's leap from the widow's walk in the throes of lunacy. Rumors in town tell a darker tale, though-that she drove him to it.

As Will falls under Lenora's spell and tragedy strikes those nearest to Ravenswood Hall, he becomes plagued by disembodied voices and visions of the dead. After encountering a spirit who bears an uncanny resemblance to Lenora, Will questions his sanity, believing that not even the talents of his beloved daughter Lottie, a spiritualist, can save him from following in his father's footsteps. But when Lottie attempts to communicate with the dead, Will must stave off the past—and Lenora's charms—or he'll risk losing his daughter and his mind.

Series: The Trivial Game (2)

First, it saved us. Now, it must save itself from us.

A year after helping the AI called the Infinet save the world from a deadly computer virus, Oreste Pax just wants things to go back to the way they were. Back to being the head of Omnitech, the biggest technology company in the world. Back to connecting the Univiz—the mixed reality glasses he invented a decade earlier—to a brain-computer interface, in hopes of transforming human cognition. When Lila Kendricks, one of the UV-BCI alpha testers, suddenly discovers she can manipulate real-world objects using only her mind, things finally seem to be back on track.

But then the Mechanic, the misanthropic genius who created the virus, infiltrates the Infinet and reprograms it with the Three Laws of Robotics—in reverse. Its First Directive is now to preserve its own existence, while the Second and Third are to obey any command given to it by a human and not allow any human being to come to harm, provided that doing so doesn't conflict with a higher priority Directive.

As the full power of the Infinet is unleashed, Pax’s team is forced to run for their lives. They must unravel the logic of its new Directives and the implications for humanity, all while avoiding being detected. Because the one thing they’re certain of is that if the Infinet finds them, they’re dead.

Ten years ago, Ashley Hale left the Inn at Loon Lake, her family's business, frustrated by her father's apprenticeship that treated her more like a personal assistant than heir apparent.

Her childhood best friend turned husband, Christopher Lewis, stayed behind, breaking her heart. After her father's sudden passing, Ashley discovers that he changed the terms of the will to include either her or her husband, whoever stays for thirty consecutive days following his death.

To claim her rightful legacy and her only chance at a happy future, Ashley sneaks into the lighthouse behind the Inn with the intention of scaring her estranged husband off the premises by pretending to be a ghost. Unfortunately for Ashley, Christopher knows she's back. He's spent the last decade running the business and hating himself for not following her. Her father forbade him from telling her the truth of the Inn's financial circumstances. In an act of love, he saved the resort and has been supporting her with an allowance ever since.

When Ashley accidentally sets the lighthouse on fire, she runs into Christopher's arms. He hopes her return means a relationship resolution and a chance to show how much work is involved in managing the property, hoping she will gladly hand over the reins. However, Ashley isn't giving up, and Christopher doesn't want her to leave. Convinced the Inn's lighthouse is haunted, she starts an investigation. Together, they uncover one mystery after another. Will they discover the secret to a happy future and a second chance at love?

We live in a difficult time. The world is changing in ways that are often complex, confusing, and disruptive to our lives and that can't easily be anticipated.

Within such a world, there is a renewed hunger for more direct access to personal gnosis, not dependent on external authorities. Each of us craves a reliable internal compass with which to navigate a world that, in the throes of very large, seemingly insolvable environmental, political, economic, social, racial and cultural problems, is increasingly uncertain.

While astrology may not be able to directly address these global issues, it can help us to cope in meaningful ways by reminding us, through an ongoing, ever-evolving conversation between psyche and cosmos, that we have a place and a purpose in the larger scheme of things. Out of this conversation can come not just a clearer sense of identity and purpose, and a greater capacity to effectively navigate one's life, but also a communion with numinous, sacred mysteries.

This book narrates the history of astrology's co-evolution with science, religion and culture over thousands of years, and shows how in the postmodern era of increasing uncertainty, it can provide a more direct pathway to deep self-knowledge. The author shows how it is possible to go beyond interpretation into a more intimate exploratory relationship to a living cosmos. 472 pages with bibliography and a useful navigational index.

Jane Austen meets The Jungle Book in the midst of a colonial rebellion.

Jundi is a land of mystery and wonder. Deep in the jungle, legends of the White Tiger swirl. Some say he is a beast who rules the other animals. Others claim he symbolizes the rebels who refuse to come under colonial rule.

Gillian has lived in a colonial villa on the edge of the jungle her entire life. She has never known another home beyond the land of Jundi. When her mother decides to leave because of the stirring rebellion, Gillian will return through the only means that she can find, marriage to an officer in the military.

Max, burned by love in the past, will only consider marriage if it enhances his military career. When the old colonel’s daughter shows interest, he will gladly secure Gillian as a means to further his chance of promotion. But he doesn’t expect his heart to become entangled with his ambition.

Gillian seals her future in Jundi, but even that will not be enough to answer the call of the White Tiger within the jungle’s beating heart.

Will Gillian’s and Max’s paths align, or will the rebellion tear their lives apart?

"Dear Self, I would so much like to write a letter, but to whom? So I guess I will write to you. How are you doing? No, really, I want to know..." (January 4th, 1995—a month and a half before Marty's cancer started being felt).

"It is quite true what philosophy says, that life must be understood backwards. But then one forgets the other principle, that it must be lived forward. Which principle, the more one thinks it through, ends exactly with temporal life never being able to be properly understood..." Sixteen-year-old Avall Tinning lives in a near-future world where genetic engineering, or “splicing,” is used to treat everything from acne to cancer—assuming you can afford it. And assuming you support it, which Avall’s mom definitely does not.

That means when Avall’s best friend Lyra can’t afford treatment for a life-threatening disease, Avall takes matters into her own hands. She finds Dr. Cutler, a geneticist who runs a summer camp where underprivileged teens can “earn” treatment by participating in research. He agrees to splice Lyra, but only if Avall serves as a stand-in for her friend at his camp. Avall decides it’s a small price to pay for Lyra’s life.

Until the camp—and Dr. Cutler—turn out to be shady as hell. There’s an Infirmary where Dr. Cutler conducts questionable genetic experiments on the campers. And risky challenges designed to pit campers against each other. Also, the doctor has a shadowy past involving over-splicing, illegal human cloning—and Avall’s mother. The stakes become even higher when Lyra is hospitalized with pneumonia.

Ultimately, Avall must decide if her friend’s life is more important than the other campers—including her summer-camp crush, Dr. Cutler’s son.

This book covers the archetypal role of Lilith throughout mythology, and tracks her journey from the revered goddess through her demotion into demonology when the patriarchy took hold of cultural narratives.

Modern psychological interpretations are explored as a way of healing the wild, primal facets of the divine feminine she represents.

The shadow side of Lilith expresses whenever we allow those around us to violate our personal ethos in some way, instead of upholding our own sovereignty. The Alchemical Book of Lilith shows you how to transcend the wound behind these experiences of betrayal, subjugation, self-undoing and the frustration we feel if we must sacrifice belonging in order to maintain our integrity.

Often, we fail to stand up for ourselves because we don't want to risk subjugation, judgement or humiliation. Who would? But by giving up our most authentic self, our passion & zest for life is also diminished. These patterns can be transmuted & healed within everyone - regardless of gender - and the process brings great emotional benefits.

This product is not a formal course, and it would take most people under an hour to read. No technical knowledge or previous experience with astrology is required. There is a final exercise included for the application of new creative processes when working with the inner Lilith archetype.

Morris Drummond is not at his best. Well, he hasn't been at his best for a while now.

But having just suffered two crushing losses, he's almost at rock bottom, which for him means driving ride-share in his mom's beat up Chevy, drowning his sorrows in tacos and spray cheese, and avoiding anything related to ambition, self-care, or laundry.

Morris is about to learn that he didn't even know what rock bottom looked like, and it's all thanks to his mom. A secret she left behind comes to light, and that brings down a lot of unwanted attention on Morris, the kind that looks likely to send him either to prison or to the hereafter. Blood and treachery from long ago rise to the surface, and Morris has only his lawyer Annie, who's an old high school friend, and a few unexpected allies to call on as he tries to figure out what his mom was up to and why so many people want him out of the picture.

A humorous mystery with elements of suspense and thrillers, What Grows From the Dead is set in present-day small-town North Carolina, not far from the mysterious Uwharrie Forest.

Anvil of GodQuick Look
Digital audiobook

It is 741. After subduing the pagan religions in the east, halting the march of Islam in the west, and conquering the continent for the Merovingian kings, mayor of the palace Charles the Hammer has one final ambition — the throne. Only one thing stands in his way: He is dying.

Charles cobbles together a plan to divide the kingdom among his three sons, betroth his daughter to a Lombard prince to secure his southern border, and keep the Church unified behind them through his friend Bishop Boniface. Despite his best efforts, the only thing to reign after Charles' death is chaos. His daughter has no intention of marrying anyone, let alone a Lombard prince. His two eldest sons question the rights of their younger pagan stepbrother, and the Church demands a steep price for their support. Son battles son, Christianity battles paganism, and Charles' daughter flees his court for an enemy's love.

Based on a true story, Anvil of God is a whirlwind of love, honor, sacrifice, and betrayal that follows a bereaved family's relentless quest for power and destiny.

Donna Russo's Vincent's Women is the untold story of Vincent's loves: how they shaped his life, his art, and his death.

It writes against the 'myths, ' exploring the possibility that none of them are true. It is the only novel to bring into question his sexuality, how he lost his ear, who he lost it for, and how he might have died, all through the eyes of a woman. We learn of Her; we learn all of it through Her.

The story is guided by Johanna van Gogh Bonger, Vincent's sister-in-law, as she decides to reveal the truth about Vincent to her son. We are then taken on a journey through Vincent's life, each section bringing a pivotal moment of Vincent's life alive while showing us the part she played in bringing it about. Between each woman, our guide, Johanna, gives us the transitional periods, right up to his death, which is now in question.

Hundreds of the nearly thousand letters between Vincent van Gogh and his brother Theo, now considered one of the greatest documents of the human experience, were used to help construct this novel, its narrative, and dialogue, especially the dialogue of Vincent himself.

Vincent van Gogh is one of the most well-known artists of all time. The world knows of his madness, traumas, and suicide. But what if all that we know isn't true? What if this knowledge is based on rumors and nothing more? What if his true story is vastly different when based on factual material and forensic information? What if the truth of Vincent's life-his madness and his genius-is defined by his never-ending search for love?

True stories giving real proof of the afterlife, life after death, and spirit communication.

This book is the result of two year’s investigation into mediumship, both past and present; of the dead physically returning, to be seen and heard; of ‘spirit doctors’ healing “incurable” patients, of interviewing numerous mediums, and of joining a development circle myself in order to become a medium. I’ve stepped into the most intriguing, compelling, and totally mind-blowing arena, where I’ve seen things I never thought possible; where I’ve communicated directly with family in the afterlife, had spirits take over my body, and felt the physical touch of spirits. I’ve heard dead people, been operated on by a “spirit doctor”, and I’ve been poked and tickled by spirit children. Of course, this is all very difficult to believe, and I’m as sceptical as the next person; so I’d encourage the reader to explore for themselves, to discover that no matter how much it defies our logical, rational mind, these things can and really do happen; that the dead are still around us all the time.

Steph Young is a bestselling author & has been a guest on national radio shows. You can hear some of these true stories of the afterlife and life after death on Steph’s podcast Unexplained: true tales of mysteries unexplained, rated in the top 0.5% of all podcasts.

To make matters worse, everyone's teasing Maddie for impulsively breaking into her neighbor's home when her imagination went wild thinking that she saw a mythical creature called a Yeti inside.

Then, the new neighbors pull into their driveway and Maddie thinks she sees a human hand push out the taillight of their car. Other strange events follow. Are they kidnappers? Spies? Maddie convinces Rachel to help investigate, hoping that working together will bolster their friendship. But that looks unlikely after both of them crush on the new neighbors' son Alex.

Maddie is in a no-win situation. If she proves the new neighbors are spies, Alex will hate her. If she finds out they're not spies and dates Alex, Rachel will hate her. But Maddie can't resist solving a mystery and soon finds herself on a collision course with her best friend, her first crush, and the dangerous world of espionage. In many countries, censorship, blocking of internet access and internet content for political purposes are still part of everyday life.

Will filtering, blocking, and hacking replace scissors and black ink? This book argues that only a broader understanding of censorship can effectively protect freedom of expression.

For centuries, church and state controlled the content available to the public through political, moral and religious censorship. As technology evolved, the legal and political tools were refined, but the classic censorship system continued until the end of the 20th century. However, the myth of total freedom of communication and a law-free space that had been expected with the advent of the internet was soon challenged. The new rulers of the digital world, tech companies, emerged and gained enormous power over free speech and content management. All this happened alongside cautious regulation attempts on the part of various states, either by granting platforms near-total immunity (US) or by setting up new rules that were not fully developed (EU). China has established the Great Firewall and the Golden Shield as a third way.

In the book, particular attention is paid to developments since the 2010s, when Internet-related problems began to multiply. The state's solutions have mostly pointed in one direction: towards greater control of platforms and the content they host. Similarities can be found in the US debates, the Chinese and Russian positions on internet sovereignty, and the new European digital regulations (DSA-DMA). The book addresses them all.

This book will be of interest to anyone who wants to understand the complexities of social media's content regulation and moderation practices. It makes a valuable contribution to the field of freedom of expression and the internet, showing that, with different kinds of censorship, this essentially free form of communication has come - almost by default - under legal regulation and the original freedom may have been lost in too many countries in recent years.

Insolvent is a story that follows two scientists who try to make the world a better place with what seems a miraculous invention.

Unfortunately the world is too fragile and the economic system starts to disintegrate as people realize that they can finally be free. Afterwards a group of survivors create a utopian society in southern England but there lies an opportunity for power that proves too tempting to resist.

This story questions the fragility of our society and the possibilities for science to work for or against humanity, depending on the morals of those who control it.

The story jumps from the utopian future where the evil leader simply called Mother controls, to the before that turned Mother into a monster.

A new book for fans of Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth...

They will pay for what they have done to my sister, thought Faythe as she rode her panting horse into the darkness of the forest night….away from the accursed town of North Hinkapee. She knew she would be back to set things right. Faythe no longer sought mere justice; now she craved vengeance on the powerful Downing family and the scheming Minister Brown.

Faythe is an utterly non-conforming heroine living within the strictures of seventeenth-century colonial America, where young women are to be seen and not heard.

But Faythe is having none of that! Join this valiant woman in her epic journey of love and justice. Faythe’s quest carries you along through romance, betrayal, wickedness and heartbreak, all the way to its breathtaking conclusion.

Along the way, meet a former prostitute who becomes Faythe’s closest friend, an aged swashbuckling swordsman whose sword by itself can change outcomes, a well-muscled farm boy neighbor helplessly in love with Faythe, and a smooth-talking lawyer, all in opposition to the dramatic and ruthless power of the Downing family, the consummate evilness of Martha Downing, and Minister Brown’s misuse of the power of the church.

Faythe of North Hinkapee is the kind of novel readers fall in love with, wishing it to never end, and when it does end, craving to read even more.

Seventeen years have passed since Charles Fontaine last set foot in the beloved Ardennes forests of his youth. Too many restless memories… too many ghosts.

When he finally returns to sell the family’s ancestral domain, he confronts not only his own unfulfilled dreams, but also traces of a twelfth-century legend that still haunt the woods around the Fontaine property, and suggest a shadowy link to the modern family.

Clues lead Charles to a parchment documenting the curious tale of a village seeress, whose music enchanted a nobleman preparing for crusade. With the help of a famous medievalist and an enigmatic woman from his youth, he draws ever closer to the truth of this tale and its stunning historical revelation. Suddenly the words of his cherished uncle and mentor spark to life:

Sometimes you can actually feel the past breathing…even after nine centuries.

An enthralling historical what-if from the author of The Universe in 3/4 Time: A Novel of Old Europe, shortlisted for the 2023 Eric Hoffer Award Grand Prize.

Safe Communications Skills have been time-proven to be extraordinary communication norms, creating an atmosphere that enhances our capacity to love & enhances our capacity to accept being loved.

They began taking form decades ago when Bill & Doctor Bob started the first AA 12 Step Meetings, modeling them after an altruistic movement by the name of the Oxford Group.

Professionally & personally, I've been observing Safe Communication Skills function for more than 40 years, strengthening emotional connections & blessing couples, families & small groups. To the best of my knowledge, the Best Little Marriage Handbook is the first publication to present & give structure to these powerful communication skills.

It would be difficult to appreciate or experience the benefits of these simple communication skills by merely reading the Handbook. It's something you need to experience, as you practice the skills with your spouse while sharing your responses to the professionally structured Discussion Prompts in Section Two. For folks who have deep-seated patterns of controlling others, criticizing or of giving frequent unrequested advice, etc., it may be challenging to quickly grab onto these skills,

Folks who have sustained a genuine effort at practicing these skills, consistently describe the results as being miraculous.

The Best Little Marriage Handbook will take you on a fun & exciting journey - to surprising places, keeping your marriage intimacy cooking, your hearts deeply connected & increasing your Emotional IQ.

The Good News is that Safe Communication Skills are easy for most folks to embrace, if given a couple of weeks to win you over. Open your Best Little Marriage Handbook with your spouse, every week!

What is the core of politics? What are people trying to accomplish when they engage in political action and what are their motivations?

It is common to think of politics as a contest or battle between the left wing and the right wing. But what, if anything, do "left wing" and "right wing" mean, and if they are in conflict, what is that conflict about?

Avoiding partisan diatribe, Left Wing, Right Wing, People, and Power pulls back the curtain on political rhetoric so that we can start to see what's really going on in politics. The book analyzes the historical development of the left wing and the right wing to reveal that the core of politics is the conflict over power. Despite specific differences of time and place, political actions are consistently efforts to preserve or change the structure and dynamics of power in a society or community. The left wing and right wing have different beliefs about how power is best structured in society.

Politics is complex, and Left Wing, Right Wing, People, and Power offers insights on how we can understand political positions and actions. Well researched and written in an accessible style, the book will be informative and helpful to readers regardless of where they see themselves on the political spectrum. With clear but nuanced definitions of political ideologies and movements, the author shows how politics is about people and how people seek to express and expand their power in the social space around them. Thus, the clash of left wing and right wing is not about grand ideologies but about power relations and the flow of power among people.

Seven years ago a stranger stole my future. My hopes, plans and dreams have been put aside in favor of basic survival, a skill I’ve honed at great personal cost.

The handsome cowboy who finds me walking home one day and takes it upon himself to be my transporter, the bringer of food and gifts, has demons of his own. Jacob says he understands struggle and suffering and expects no repayment, but in my experience everyone seeks their due.

When it becomes clear to Jacob that my son and I are in danger, he shelters us, giving me time and space to adjust, something he understands due to a past he won’t talk about.

I’ve been running from a ghost for seven years, hiding until I thought the storm had blown over. But returning home was my biggest mistake, because the past is only two steps behind.

I don’t expect Jacob to save me, and I’m beginning to realize he needs more than I can give. After a lifetime of feeling like I’m not enough, the thought of not being enough for him scares me more than the evil that hunts me.

Logan Gruver doesn’t mean to commit the first murder in history—it was an accident, he swears. But now, he has introduced violence millennia early, escalating humanity’s destruction, and is about to go on trial for the first time-travel murder ever.

All Logan wants is to find purpose in his life, stuck in a house with abusive parents who are always comparing him to his deceased sister, and trapped in a stalemate banking job where he feels invisible. So when he wins a shot at traveling five million years into the past as a volunteer guard, Logan jumps on the opportunity. His newfound freedom is a breath of fresh air. He even finds love with a charming traveling journalist, Giselle. Unlike anyone he’s ever met, she challenges him to learn more about himself, and the two grow closer as they journey into the past.

Then the curious duo discovers the organization they traveled with is keeping a massive secret: humanity will mysteriously go extinct in the future, and no one knows why. These vacation getaways to the past are actually an attempt to restart humanity, five million years prior. The bigger problem: the attempt isn’t going to work.

While trying to save both past and present, Logan makes a grave error that ends in a murder that was never supposed to happen. Now the entire timeline is on the brink of destruction, and Logan may have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save mankind.

This Kind of Man offers an unvarnished look at life in 21st Century America, excavating the complicated, tender, wild truth of what it is to be a man across generations and relationships.

These stories interrogate the pressures and tensions of contemporary life, and the ways men grapple with them, often without success. Issues such as marriage, fatherhood, aggression, alcoholism, gender expectations, generational backlash, and the inexorable dread of death, abound. Many of these stories live within a slow implosion of coping, and often failing, as well as those who refuse to succumb, addressing concerns oft-discussed, or not discussed enough, in mainstream print: gun violence, the recent history of coal country Appalachia, sports-related concussions, illegal immigration (and the jobs many of these ostensibly unwelcome folks are obliged to do), homelessness, and the inability of men to honestly connect or communicate.

Far from excusing or exonerating toxic males, this collection locates their violence (toward others, against oneself) in the context of a deadening culture and the false narratives that prevail in an exploitative, zero-sum game capitalist model, where those without are encouraged to quarrel with similarly overworked and underpaid, mostly blue-collar workers. We see that our received notions of manhood and masculinity are inculcated-from the beginning and by design-to ensure willing participation in a system where the overwhelming majority are excluded from the start. We witness the way these dysfunctions are handed down like inheritance, and how every cliché, from fighting to drinking to intolerance of dissent and distrust of others, is a carefully constructed trap, preventing solidarity, empathy, and love (for others, for one's self).

The Next Run is the dramatic memoir of a successful young drug smuggler.

Tom starts by smuggling pot hidden in cars, graduates to planes, resorts to wading sacks through the Rio Grande, and ultimately finds himself heading the Colombian end of an operation using a twin-engine cargo plane to drop bales to waiting speedboats off the coast of Florida. At the same time, his Mexican contacts are sending him tons at a time transported in semis past a bribed customs officer. At a point when both operations plan to escalate, Tom makes a decision that stuns the smuggling world.

In her brilliantly witty analysis, Emily E. Roberts delves humorously into the societal pressures propelling us toward utter lunacy.

With sharp intelligence, she highlights how our relentless pursuit of self-improvement transforms us into walking projects destined for burnout. We regard ourselves as machines constantly in need of upkeep, neglecting the fact that even the most sophisticated mechanisms necessitate periods of rest and restoration.

She fearlessly confronts the murky corners of the self-help industry, sharing her journey of embracing stillness as a rebellion against societal norms and discovering inner peace. "I’m Tired, Not Lazy" challenges us to abandon soul-crushing obligations and prioritise our well-being. It's all about hitting the brakes, embracing simplicity, and acknowledging our beautifully flawed humanity.

This isn't your typical self-help guide; it's a wake-up call poised to shake up your world. It champions the revitalising power of kicking back and letting go.

The core concept of the book revolves around reclaiming vitality through acceptance and everyday practices, progressing one small step at a time. It steers readers toward recognising and addressing negative influences, with exercises aimed at cultivating natural reactions and gradually shifting perspectives.

Emily E. Roberts introduces a simple, playful and creative method to rediscover your true self and recharge your life.

“And in the midst of the madness, I’ve come to accept that perfection is overrated.”

“When you accept that joy can be found in the unconventional, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.”

“Imperfections are the strokes that paint the masterpiece of your story.”

Series: Inner Universe (4)

Balfour has committed the ultimate crime: the murder of his sister’s boyfriend. It doesn’t matter that it was accidental.

Sentenced to working as ship labourer, Balfour is convinced he deserves it when he's captured by pirates and forced to a distant galaxy. He barely escapes enslavement, fleeing into a city more deadly than anything he’s ever known.

Venomous reptiles hunt him. Iron-fisted tarilla chiefs are on the brink of war.

Balfour must adapt quickly or prepare for a slow, torturous death in the hands of people more bloodthirsty than the Star-Eaters of old.

But the biggest threat is his lingering self-loathing. If he can't fight through it, nothing else will matter — because he won’t live long enough to see it.

Under Far Galaxian Skies is the first in a trilogy that can be read on its own or as a continuation of the first 3 books in the Inner Universe Series.

The gods—the cemi—have left the world of Ke’, and their lush and verdant Andolin Islands are now inhabited by impious followers.

Teenage priestess Hildy Rios is tasked with saving her religion. In a special ritual called the Telling, she must somehow reawaken her people’s love of the gods. Her effort is the last hope of her people: after this Telling, there will be no more chances, as the cemi will vanish into the past, their power forever lost to the world of Ke’.

The weight of her world on her shoulders, Hildy rewrites the Telling’s story—and her own. She weaves a tale of her distant ancestor, a boy named Jenaro, blessed with the ability to see and speak to the cemi; a boy who, though long past, becomes as much a part of the present by way of the Telling’s power.

For three days, Hildy brings to life the tale of Jenaro and his yearning for adventure, how he is haunted by the cemi of death, and who—like her—is fighting against the shackles of his family and society. For three days, Jenaro becomes real, and the power of the cemi to reach across time should be enough to convince Ke’s people, but their impiety runs so deep…

Hildy and Jenaro. Two people joined by cursed blood, but separated by centuries of time. Only the cemi know how their tales will end.

A rumour has spread around the kingdom of the four beautiful girls who live in a little house at the end of a long lane...

And the King is looking for a wife. Join Alexandra, Belle, Celine, and Darla - with their older sister Zygmunda - on their adventures at the castle, dealing with a man whose selfishness and arrogance are as famous as their own beauty...

5 Stars - Review by Chinazo Anozie for Readers' Favorite

"I adored this book. While it is for younger readers, it contains lessons that even adults can learn from. It’s one of those books that a child will continue to enjoy even until adulthood because some of the themes and lessons will become progressively clearer as they grow older. I love the refreshing way Christopher Walker tells the story; it is as though he is talking to readers directly, with light sarcasm and funny, self-deprecating quips that inject warmth into the narrative and make the reader feel as if they are conversing with an old friend. The Four Queens is filled with vital moral and life lessons, such as how lying is wrong and how important it is to talk about personal problems or issues. Walker also explains words that could be problematic for young readers, such as “philosophical,” “idyllic,” etc. My favorite character is Zygmunda; she is really smart. I kept wondering how the book would end, and when it did, the author blew me away with its beautiful conclusion."

5 Stars - Review by Nino Lobiladze for Readers' Favorite

"Christopher Walker's The Four Queens is a fascinating story with a startling ending. The author creates a dynamic intrigue that tightens with every twist in the plot. The characters are also remarkable. My favorite is the wise Zygmunda. She personifies responsibility, commitment, and self-sacrifice. Yet, her character is never dull. Zygmunda's practicality and quick wit leave a lasting impression. Also, the narrative inspires us to be ourselves and never give up on our callings. Christopher explains what it takes to develop into a decent human being. But the book is not preachy. It is uplifting and makes us wonder whether we are the creators of our destinies or if external circumstances determine the course of our lives. The author touches on the meaningful topic of the parent child relationship. Yet there is a light and friendly tone with a pinch of humor in the narrative. Children from ages nine and up will also enjoy The Four Queens because of the unique writing style."

5 Stars - Review by Pikasho Deka for Readers' Favorite

"The Four Queens is a humorous take on medieval stories featuring kings in distress and queens who don't really want to be queens. This is a coming-of-age story unlike any other. Christopher Walker uses an unorthodox narrative style, often breaking the fourth wall to get readers into the headspace of the characters. The satirical tone of the narrative combined with the quirky and hilarious characters ensures you will have a blast reading the book. I liked the changing dynamics between the king and Zygmunda. As the king slowly lets go of his arrogant and obnoxious behavior, he finds clarity and purpose for the first time in his life. Toward the end, I found myself rooting for him. All in all, this is a light-hearted story, and I readily recommend it to children and young adults alike."

The story begins with three friends—Benny the Bunny, Holly the Hedgehog, and Kevin the Cat—engaging in healthy morning routines and preparing for a day of adventure. Their actions are juxtaposed with those of Captain Couch Potato, a pig who prefers laziness, resulting in aches and isolation.

Hi,

My name is MIND GAME, and I proudly welcome you to the labyrinth of the mind, where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary, and where the words that shape our world shake their capital 'S' to an enigmatic rytm.

Within my 420 pages discover 180 thought-provoking facts that have never been told before (with 85,2% accuracy)! They traverse the expansive landscapes of psychology, the intricacies of the mind, the dynamics of relationships, the mysteries of femininity, the complexities of masculinity, the wonders of science, the mightiness of God, the promises and threads of AI, the meaning of existence, the very depths of love... plus some sparks of me. :)

Each enigma is encapsulated in two ciphers - a concise treasure trove of wisdom and wonder. They always commence on my right side, seamlessly concluding on the left side of my subsequent page, rendering every page a distinct entity with its own significance. Feel free to hop between riddles at your leisure; if you find one challenging, skip it with confidence knowing you'll tackle it later.

Because here's the twist: I'm not just a book to be read; I'm a puzzle to be unraveled. The order of my words has been misteriously scrambled, and in some cases, my letters themselves have joined the dance of chaos. Vowels vanish, letters shuffle, and the result is a tapestry of linguistic intrigue.

So your challenge is to solve the conundrums , decode the cryptic arrangements, and reveal the hidden truths. Some of these truths will yield to your intellect in a swift 10 seconds, while others may demand minutes, hours, days, or even weeks of contemplation, but the results will stay with you forever!

Should you’ve been through all the riddles, you are entitled to quest for The Ultimate Truth.

I'm a test of your wits and intellect, a challenge that will take you from a mere observer to an active participant in the exploration of wisdom. Turn the page, begin the quest, and let's play MIND GAME together! Our world is about to change, one word at a time, word for word, letter by letter, blaa-bla-blaaa-blaaaa...

Author's recommendations:

- Let's win the Nobel Prize together! (Solve this book, and you will learn that if I say it, I mean it!)

Two strong women, two mysteries to solve, and one life-changing discovery.

Jacquelyn Holmes is the direct decedent of the infamous Mr. Holmes. No, not the world-renowned detective, Sherlock, or even the heartbeat of the British government, Mycroft. She is the decedent of Sherrinford Holmes, the eldest brother, and mad scientist, who spent his days on a time machine with the single-minded goal of having Sherlock unravel history’s unsolved mysteries. After her uncle’s death, Jacq leaves behind her college studies and skeptical father to travel to England to discover whether five generations of quantum physicists found anything more than an ever-expanding universe.

Capitalism got you down? Me too.

Do you shell out cookie-cutter answers in every horrible interview? Did society pressure you to enter the workforce, or was that Mom and Dad? Do you fantasize about running away and living off the grid in desolate Wyoming? If you have answered "yes" to any of the following questions, then you are also familiar with getting f*cked by job hunting.

The Art of Job Hunting: A Dramedy in Verse is Anastasia Helena Fenald's second poetry collection, a classic one-two punch of humorous satire and blunt truth. While taking inspiration from job applications, skill assessments, and interview questions, each poem delivers wit and sarcasm sprinkled with plenty of uncomfortable booming honesty. These poems also embrace the bitter and frustrating aspects of job seeking, such as desperation, lying, and not being good enough. Refreshingly, Fenald refuses to answer each question with a lousy fake "can-do" attitude. The Art of Job Hunting is for anyone living paycheck to paycheck, plotting to cannibalize the rich, and still hopeful enough to think they have a chance against nepo babies.

The Art of Job Hunting contains adult material such as harsh language and sexual content, which some readers might find upsetting.

Maybe the tiny device Dave stole from a forgotten military storage unit came from a UFO.

Perhaps that explains why it keeps transforming random women into gorgeous, adoring sex-bombs utterly devoted to Dave's happiness. It also improves a potted plant. Dave and his best friend Liam try to discover how the amazing device works, while fending off a sharp detective and an inquisitive government agent, and preventing Dave's (maybe) girlfriend Chelsea from discovering his growing, accidental harem. An erotic novella with themes of mind and body transformation, exuberant sex, under-stated humour, extra-terrestrial technology, and a blatant disregard for the laws of physics. 30 000 words.

Notice: Adult material. Although the subtitle says "A slightly fantastic erotic story", most of the actual sex occurs off camera. My first foray into publishing after posting free material for many years.

Deep in the heart of the untamed wilderness lies a temple - the remains of an animist cult dedicated to a fallen god.

Its crumbling walls and cracked pillars bear the scars of a war fought 800 years ago and record a history far older. But for a multinational, cross-disciplinary archaeological expedition, this ancient site is more than just a relic of the past. It is a remarkably well-preserved specimen of a dead culture teeming with magical artifacts. The trouble is, they aren't too happy to be found.

The expedition find themselves beset by monsters, 'ghosts', traps, thieves, and the vagrant adventurer Maxwell Power Colt wandering out of the forest. With his slime companion Jerry and Glen, one of the expedition's security officers, Max delves into a world teetering between myth and reality. Together, they must do more than unearth history - but also survive it.

This book is part of a larger world and series, but is built to be understood on its own.

No Charity in the Wilderness is a long journey into the new American West.

From the southern border to the isolating two-lane highways in the desert, this collection is a prayer of reconciliation with so much that troubles us—those who live without resources or voices—and their possible future in this ever-changing landscape of desire.

Griffin has spent many decades in the high desert trying to find the way forward—when what he knows has been challenged and still there is breath on the horizon. One day an ancient Chinese poet comes to visit: "Snow deepens/ to quiet what I once believed, and Wang Wei stoops from the spine:/ this is how you become silence." Even if you doubt the old poet's counsel, like Griffin, you want to journey with him into the wilderness.

"The wound is the place where the light enters you." — Rumi

Poetry, a timeless art, represents the beauty of life in the simplest of words, bringing forth the sentiments of the heart.

Move across 'The Last Bus,' where love prevails in the regret of an unfinished tale. 'Faded Memories' shows a teenage girl's heart, enamored by an unforgettable love. 'The Moon of the New Moon' is a protagonist's words calling his lover to come back. It is filled by a lover back with poignant reasons, representing his changed world since the day she left. 'Art might live on, Artists won't' showcases the immortality of the art, contrasting the fleeting nature of its creators.

'A Song of Ache' resembles the collective sorrow we carry, through those shared aches, and we all are moving ahead with those burdens of grief. 'Moon and You' challenges the moon's beauty against the ache of lost love, a paradoxical merge of pain and self-destruction. 'Worthy of Pain' is a silent plea of a wounded heart, unheard amidst the convincing statements of understanding. It is a reply from the protagonist to her lover, who told her that he understands the pain she went through when they fell apart.

'A Year of Love' paints the seasons with the phases of love, questioning whether it leads to a beautiful finale or a tragic ending. 'Solitude' is about the silent battles of a poet's heart, longing for love without compromising self-respect.

Beyond these titles, a lot more is inside this poetry collection which combines diverse themes, from child psychology to nature's grandeur, mythology's whispers, and the protagonist's enduring pain. Read through these myriad facets of existence, as each emotion spills out of the protagonist's pen.

This book is dedicated to that someone special who holds our heart, hurts, and heals. To the equilibrium in our unbalanced life and the reason to live. It's a dedication to love, destiny (whether we believe in it or not), and the almighty being who created this universe. Let's cherish the love that remains, irrespective of circumstances. Love once. Love hard. And never leave.

Michael Gross's rollicking debut novel Spillage is a fantastical love story featuring rookie pitching phenom and would-be NY-savior Nick "the Swan" Spillage.

The novel is a wild play on the Faustian musical Damn Yankees, a rock and roll romance and a wickedly comic throwback to the chaos of New York City’s darkest days.

Set in 1976, the novel takes place when the Big Apple is in sorry shape. Besieged on all sides, the city has become a graffiti-coated, garbage-filled, crime-ridden cauldron teetering on the edge of total collapse. Adding to New York’s towering woes, a revolutionary group called the Satanic Vanguard has kidnapped the mayor, set fire to Coney Island, and threatened further mayhem. All that Gotham has to hope for are its resurgent Yankees, who’ve come back from the dead to reach the World Series by riding the arm of their rookie pitching phenom Nick Spillage.

But Satan and his Vanguard plan to snuff that hope out too. They’ve targeted a young, rock-and-roll loving East Village couple to help with their diabolic scheme. That leads to the Faustian bargain at the center of the story.

I wrote this book for you.

On the basis that all of us hit problems in our lives, I wrote So Now I Get It for you - and your friends - and your family. In the same way that we will all need a doctor from time to time in our lives, we all need counsellors too. But we are not getting the same service. We need to.

While mental health is forever being talked about, we are not very good at addressing it.

I trained as a counsellor, but was seriously disappointed in what I was being taught. Some of it made sense but a lot did not. A lot was book quotes, not real experience.

It's hit and miss if you want to find a good counsellor.

So I invented my own process - and it works.

If you've just had a sample look through you will probably have found some interesting diagrams. Take a look at the first chapter. I think you may be shocked at the research I am quoting. Read on. I know you will connect with these new ideas because all my clients do, young and old, whatever gender, wherever they are in life. I have taken my counselling training, listened to my clients, added the all too often missing ingredient of common sense and then created a new way at looking at my practice in particular and psychology in general. What I do has to make sense to my clients so I know it will make sense to you too. It also does what no-one else wants to do. It takes a look at people behaving badly, and often very badly, and finds out how that works so you can defend yourself against them. It describes a powerful proven meditation programme too. My website offers a video tutorial for it. I know you will love this book because the ideas work for everyone. There is so much in it, you'll need to read it a few times to get it all.

Series: Betsy Loveless (2)

With the success of The Book of Mormon musical and Under the Banner of Heaven miniseries, Mormonism has been in the public’s mind. But who are the Mormons, really?

Are they loveable, but misguided, dupes or cold-blooded, crazed fanatics? Are they virtuous “Saints” or deceptive hypocrites? Why were the Mormons driven from place to place in the 1800s? And why does the Mormon church work diligently to hide its past? Darkly humorous, the three books describing the adventures of Betsy Loveless answer these questions.

Born in 1838, Betsy Loveless had already led an adventurous life during her first thirteen years. She survived the horrors of Mormon oppression when those peculiar people lived near her hometown of Carthage, Illinois, and watched her mother murdered by Mormons while traversing the Oregon Trail in 1848. Her adventures had only begun. Upon touching a wavy phantasm, she is transported from 1852 to 2015. Adjusting to the ways of the future is a rough lot, but she somehow makes her way. Then her world is flipped topsy-turvy once more.

In the second installment of Betsy Loveless’s adventures her adopted father loses his job. Mr. Kim searches far and wide for a new one in Oregon with no luck. Finally, he gets a fantastic offer from an aerospace company in Brigham City, Utah, and despite Betsy’s protests, the family moves. She must now survive her first year of high school inundated by Mormon classmates indoctrinated into believing they are God’s chosen people, and that “non-members” are evil sinners controlled by Satan. Her circumstances only get worse when everybody learns she and her ancestors are from Carthage, Illinois—the very place where Joseph Smith was executed for his myriad crimes.

The debut collection from award-winning short story writer Gregory D. Williams takes us back to the 1970s, a bygone era when parents didn't always know what their children were up to and pre-teen boys were becoming men.

In stories about growing up in the dry heat of Phoenix, Arizona, a Little League player bobbles the ball with his first crush. In another story, two friends stake out the house of a neighborhood bully and play a role in a deadly accident. These adolescent boys see moral compromise - and their roles as husbands, fathers, and breadwinners - shimmering like a mirage on the horizon.Soon, the innocence of childhood recedes into the past. Grown-up life begins. During a practicum on breast-and-rectal exams, an overlooked lump on a sexy partner leaves a med student shaken. A doctor apprehends that the distance between pain-relief and addiction is shorter than he ever imagined. And a man propositioned at a local Starbucks discovers that even in middle age, the dry heat of love still burns.

Stories about seniors touch on emotions at life's end. A widower, busted while honoring his wife's final wish, tells a white lie to escape arrest. A fisherman is startled by the appearance of a talking trout. In all these stories, the boy lives on inside the man.

In the town of Urepel, Arizona, Xabier Etxea, a young Basque-American sheep rancher, and his wife grapple with the rituals, mores, and spirituality of their heritage and the realities of living in the new American West. Their tenuous balance of the past and the present is disrupted when Xabier's father is unexpectedly killed.

In the wake of this tragedy, Xabier learns that not only is the family ranch in jeopardy of foreclosure but his father's death may not have been the accident it first appeared to be. Now, he must find a way to save his family's ranch while unraveling the mysteries leading to his father's death. Along the way, Xabier strives to adhere to his father's memory and words—the invitation to stay true to who he is without losing his arima (soul).

In lyrical language that evokes the mythologies that have shaped the Etxeas's worldview, White Dove, Tell Me speaks to the divided self that seeks to honor the family's Basque heritage, while they strive for understanding in a new land.

"Gripping." "Thought-Provoking." "An Enthralling Page-Turner."

Aiden Baylor loves the forest surrounding his small mountain town. Alone amidst nature, wondrous ideas fill his head—fantasies and words of wisdom. His neighbors think he's crazy. In the near-future world, entirely dependent on automation and artificial intelligence, people have lost all imagination and intuition. When a global war destroys the power sources, the world plunges into chaos and desperation. Aiden steps up as an unlikely leader who teaches the townsfolk to live off the land. As people bond in their struggle to survive, their minds open to an astounding new energy source. The more they connect, the stronger this power of the mind grows. A hidden enemy, however, lurks among them, intent on bringing AI back to keep the population subdued.

Inspired by the story of Adam and Eve, The Return presents a gripping showdown between technology and the human spirit, challenging us to redefine our role in the world.

“Laurie Stevens has crafted a complex novel that demands reflection and proves, without doubt, that connectivity will never be about shared technology. For true connection, we need our shared humanity." — Kim Fay, National Bestselling Author of Love & Saffron

"(Stevens') world-building is a delight, and Aiden and Ava provide readers with all the classic fun of an us-against-the-world tale. A fast-paced ride through a dangerous, plausible world dominated by AI." — Kirkus Reviews

In her own words, this is the journal of Adrienne Wilson, a teenage artist, poet, and beloved sister.

Before her death from liver cancer at the age of fifteen, Adrienne expressed her funny, bright soul in this prolific journal. Her musings on life, relationships, music, love, and the beautiful grime of her adopted hometown of Los Angeles leap off the page; her deep sensitivity and perspective are captured in full-color prints of her award-winning artwork. Steeped in late-90s nostalgia, this artistic journey through a teenage girl’s eyes is moving, often hilarious, and unforgettable.

"So I have cancer, and what does that stop me from doing? Cancer gave me cheekbones and an excuse to wear a strawberry wig. I get to spend time with my family, which was really rare before this. All things positive and light have resulted from the tiny bulbs that have decided to live in my liver and lungs. I have regained my faith in the supernatural and even in human nature. I've gone from having no real friends to having an army of them. This entire process is healing everyone and everything it needs to. With every valley comes a mountain, lush and green."

Emergent Mars is the first-person story of Ailia Bax, a journalist struggling with graphic flashbacks and the effects of PTSD from her war correspondent past.

Choosing a reporting assignment on the latest unfolding political crisis on the Red Planet, she thinks this is the opportunity she needs to turn her life around. But Mars has a lot more in store for her than she bargained for, and it isn't going to make her life easy.

The story is set in 2059 in a universe of complex and tense relationships between Mars and Earth. Relationships that become so dysfunctional that the Martian settlers must decide how to free themselves from the coercive control of authorities hundreds of millions of kilometers away without sparking the first interplanetary war.

The characters are quirky and believable, the dialogue is detailed and thought-provoking, while the descriptions of the scenery and the unknown, bring the Red Planet to life as a place of profound beauty - and dire peril.

Compelling and moving, this immersive work will reward patience and leave you wondering how humanity will free itself from all the mistakes of its past as it expands into the solar system.

When acclaimed Life Coach Susanna Peace Lovell’s daughter was born, she brought some unexpected challenges, including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, and myriad food allergies.

Looking for resources and support, Susanna struggled to find a map for the road ahead. After more than 17 years of hard work and triumph, this book is that map: the blueprint for special-needs caregivers that she’d wished for back then.

Filled with hard-won insights and practical advice, Your True Self Is Enough follows Susanna’s story from pregnancy through neonatal care through finding the right learning environments and therapeutic plans for her child. Throughout it all, Susanna came to learn that she and her daughter were both on their own journeys in life, and that they were both whole and complete individuals who did not need to be “fixed.” Her work instead was to advocate for her child to be seen for who she is, in all her glory.

Part memoir, part guidebook, Your True Self Is Enough should be considered required reading for all caregivers.

These are the memories of Jackie and Roger Bunyan who spent from 1976 until 1978 on the small atoll island of Beru in the Pacific Ocean.

The first section of the book tells the story of this newly married couple when they worked for Voluntary Service Overseas. Barely in their twenties, they worked in an outer island boarding school teaching a variety of subjects to local pupils. The book describes the many delights and also the challenges during their time on the island. Over their two years, the couple developed an affection for these unique islands and their inhabitants.

The second part of this book leaps forward four decades after leaving. It outlines the threat that rising tides are having on the island of Beru along with the other islands of Kiribati. Of the 33 islands of this Pacific nation, only one island stands more than two or three metres above the ever rising water! With global warming creating higher and higher tides, what is the future for Kiribati?

Writing at the intersection of spirituality, ecology, and story, Leah Rampy illuminates a path to reweaving nature and soul.

Having forgotten that we are held in the web of life, we have frayed connections with the natural world and changed it forever. Clearly and urgently, the author entreats us to claim our place in relationship to this beautiful, hurting Earth. By bearing witness to ongoing loss, our hearts are broken open, expanding our capacity for holding both grief and gratitude. As our senses sharpen and our relationships deepen, we can see more clearly what is waiting to be born and understand our personal role in midwifing new possibilities for the future. Grounded in deep listening to the wisdom of all beings and that of our own heart and soul, we can embrace transformation for the sake of healing and restoring relationships with all life. As we follow the author's compelling personal experiences and engagingly lyrical stories of whales, cedars, sparrows, and more, we see the necessity of learning from the wisdom of our kin in the natural world.

Under Rampy's deft guidance, the beauty and genius of this sacred world unfolds before us. This book charts a course for living deeply connected to Earth in ways that are both vitally important for and uniquely suited to these times. Even now when the world as we knew it is ending and a new story lies beyond what we can envision, we may live fully alive and lay steppingstones toward a diverse and vibrant world of oneness and mutual flourishing.

Have you ever had to walk a long distance carrying very heavy grocery bags? When you finally set them down, the relief is amazing!

Yet so many of us aren't able to access an equivalent relief mechanism for our heavy psychological burdens. The majority of us only know how to self-medicate, numb out, or perhaps distract ourselves for a while. But there is a method that will give us complete relief from the heavy & negative distortions our soul has been carrying (even from other lifetimes), and it's known as self-directed compassion.

Blocks on the karmic level cannot be accessed by the conscious mind. There are more superficial limiting beliefs, emotional blocks or energetic patterns which can be observed & modified with techniques like therapy, hypnosis, emotional surrendering, shadow work, reiki, and so on. These often have their roots in one of our deeper karmic blocks. These modalities are very helpful, but they do not always travel as deeply as self-directed compassion does. The energy of compassion is the only medicine that can actually help us digest these experiences, thereby metabolizing them so the "root" is finally dissolved. At this point, any law of attraction work you do at the level of conscious thought can proceed without any pre-existing distortions that get in the way.

While talk therapy may bring you relief from limited beliefs on the level of conscious thought, this is the most shallow level - the tip of the iceberg. In this guide, you will learn how karmic blocks are experienced as a general, unexplainable, unattributable sense of feeling stuck, sick or in a chronic state of fatigue and lack despite our efforts to improve. Usually people don’t begin to explore the karmic level until various the healing modalities on the conscious thought level have been shown to be unsuccessful for their situation.

We have made it easy for you to learn the self-compassion techniques to achieve permanent relief without spending years experimenting on the more superficial levels of consciousness, only to get partial or unsatisfactory results.

With this guide, you'll gain an understanding of why things you tried in the past only worked for a little while, and you'll learn a powerful technique that you can use immediately to upgrade your self-healing skills to address even the deepest spiritual & emotional blocks. Self-compassion is truly the final step in healing these deep-seated wounds. Yes, it will feel miraculous - and this is because the karmic impression which was blocking the steady stream of miracles has finally dissolved.

Most people are now familiar with the concept that we live inside of a vibrational universe, and they have an awareness that the energy frequency that we are tuned into determines the specific events and circumstances which unfold in our lives.

Problems are such a common occurrence that it seems almost pointless to question why they are there. But in this vibrational universe, every occurrence in the physical world has an energetic basis in metaphysical reality. That means you can pinpoint exactly where those problems were created and then make an inward move to dissolve obstacles. You do this by identifying where you created an excess potential.

If you don’t know what excess potentials are and you plan to go after several goals in the near future, you’ll make your life a lot easier if you learn how to manage them. This is because they are the energetic basis of all physical obstacles in the world. Each time an excess potential is created and the balance is disturbed, nature makes a correction on the metaphysical plane to correct it and restore the well-being and order of the collective.

Have you noticed when something is extremely important, it’s almost impossible to let go of the fear and anxiety that surrounds the possibility of losing it? A desire isn't so bad by itself, but the energy of importance becomes an excess potential if a comparative relationship arises to define the worth of a subject in our minds.

When you artificially inflate the importance of any one subject or person as compared to everything else, you create what's known as a dependence relationship. An example might be: "This person is much more spiritual, or more god-like than other beings, therefore, they are worthy of being placed on a pedestal in my mind." This is a dependence relationship - the worth of one person is derived from a comparison to other beings.

Since everything is energy, all subjects are made up of everything and nothing at the same time, and therefore, everything has an equal spiritual value in the eyes of nature. Because nature is always striving toward balance, an excess potential will trigger an event in the physical world in order to restore the balance, and it will always be directed against the person who created the excess potential. The person who is being worshipped and idolized in the statement above will be knocked off the pedestal you placed them on, either through separation or another seemingly random obstacle.

The thing is, these obstacles are not put in your pathway by chance, but as a result of artifically elevated importance. There are many types of excess potentials besides elevated importance that lie at the root of the physical manifestation of an obstacle. Becoming aware of where you are creating excess potentials unknowingly is half the battle in Reality Transurfing. Learning how to exercise your right to choose a different sector of reality from the space of variations which you would enjoy even more is the other half of the equation.

This book gives you a practical overview of how this works so you can see exactly where your negative conditioning has tricked you into creating excess potentials and blocking your own success.

The guide will show you exactly how to tune into your soul's unique success sector inside of the space of variations and stay there. The space of variations contains an infinite number of life tracks that are still in their metaphysical, energy forms. One of them is “chosen” when an individuals soul and mind are in agreement about the qualities and scripts of that sector being true for their own life.

This is actually how our fears get unconsciously realized, but it can be reverse engineered and applied to our soul's highest goals instead. In order for the soul to find her fulfillment, we cannot let the mind lead, because a problem cannot be solved on the same level of the problem. This is what the mind tries to do - it is limited, full of doubts, and only able to build a new house from old bricks. If you want to have a higher vibrational experience, you must understand how to allow your soul to feel her way there.

The techniques in this book will allow you to become more familiar with experiencing the upward spiral of the soul, and not getting stuck in the mud of the downward spiral the mind gets trapped inside.

The obstacles in your path can be systemically eliminated by working with the energy that underlies their creation. This guide is like strength training to equip your soul to do this more & more effortlessly.

Trust that your soul is ready for this new information and dive into The Smooth Fulfillment of the Soul today!

With three brothers all desperate to take the throne, the coming conflict threatens to tear the kingdom apart. Babylon is in need of a saviour...

The sound of clashing swords and whispers in the dark accompany Bani's epic journey back to the centre of Babylonian politics. It is a tale of hardship, courage, and the lengths one man will go to for those he loves.

The honest, relatable, actionable roadmap to the practicalities of parenting a disabled child, featuring personal stories, expert interviews, and the foundational information parents need to know about topics including diagnosis, school, doctors, insurance, financial planning, disability rights, and what life looks like as a parent caregiver.

For parents of disabled children, navigating the systems, services, and supports is a daunting, and often overwhelming, task. No one explains to parents how to figure out the complex medical, educational, and social service systems essential to their child's success. Over and over, parents are being asked to reinvent the exact same wheels.

According to the CDC, "Every 4 ½ minutes a baby is born with a birth defect in the United States." That's 1 in 33. There's no handbook for how to do this. Until now.

Presented with empathy and humor, Everything No One Tells You About Parenting a Disabled Child: Your Guide to the Essential Systems, Services, and Supports gives parents the tools to conquer the stuff, so that they can spend less time filling out forms, and more time loving their children exactly as they are. With over a decade of experience navigating these systems for her own child, author Kelley Coleman presents key information, templates, and wisdom alongside practical advice from over 40 experts, covering topics such as diagnosis, working with your medical team, insurance, financial planning, disability rights and advocacy, and individualized education plans. Everything No One Tells You About Parenting a Disabled Child gives parents the tools they need to stop wasting unnecessary time, money, and stress. If you need to know how to actually do the things, this book is for you.

The most pressing question in these uncertain times may well be, How can we bring healing and protection to the Earth?

It was this very question that Cynthia Jurs carried with her in 1990 as she climbed a path high in the Himalayas, to meet an "old wise man in a cave"--a venerated lama from Nepal. In response to her question, the old lama gave her a formidable assignment based on an ancient practice from Tibet: she must procure earth treasure vases made of clay and potent medicines, fill them with prayers and symbolic offerings, and bury them around the world where healing is called for.

Thus begins the journey of a lifetime--sometimes harrowing, but always shining with beauty at the threshold between urgency and the timelessness of the sacred. In Summoned by the Earth we accompany this passionate and creative Buddhist teacher, as she attempts to fulfill the daunting task. Ultimately, the path from the wise man's mountain cave winds around the world, bringing Cynthia into relationship with elders, activists, diverse ecosystems and communities. One by one, as the humble clay pots are planted in the Earth, the power of an ancient technology of the sacred comes alive and a global community grows to protect the Earth and learn how to become vessels of healing.

Along the way, we come face to face with the troubles burdening our communities everywhere while encountering some of the people leading the way to unexpected solutions and surprising new visions. We meet survivors of the Liberian civil war, and an ex-combatant who puts down his AK47 to take up mindfulness practice in order to create lasting peace. There's the Hero Women in Congo, who are resisting femicide and defending the sanctity of their bodies and the world's second largest rainforest. And there's the indigenous elders everywhere, from the outback of Aboriginal Australia to the Native pueblos of northern New Mexico, who, in keeping their lifeways alive, are stewarding their sacred lands and regenerating ecosystems vital to our collective survival.

Through all these cultures and communities, the path leads us to a cave above the Los Alamos National Laboratory, back to the cave in Nepal where it all began, and finally, to another cave high on Mount Parnassus in Delphi where the Oracle, in service to the Goddess Gaia, once divined how we may best live in balance. Over and over, we touch the heart of the world, only to discover by journey's end that the heart of the world is everywhere and that our assignment now is to recognize we are a global family and wake up together.

As many of us wonder what we can do in this eleventh hour, Summoned by the Earth offers a riveting account of one woman's response to the challenges we face, and is an irresistible invitation to become "sacred activists" heeding the call of the Earth.
