She needs help from the reclusive Lord Strangford, a man haunted by his own unusual powers. To pursue the path of a killer, Lily must ask Strangford to face unimaginable horrors – and is compelled to reveal her darkest secrets to a man she has little reason to trust.

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by kekmaw (publisher): Please notice that this is a review copy for the ebook version of this book.

Description: Do you know what the hardest thing for a Dutch learner is?

Finding PROPER reading material that they can handle…which is precisely the reason we’ve written this book!

Teachers love giving out tough, expert-level literature to their students. Books that present many new problems to the reader and force them to search for words in a dictionary every five minutes — it’s not entertaining, useful or motivating for the student at all, and many soon give up on learning at all!

In this book, we have compiled 20 easy-to-read, compelling and fun stories that will allow you to expand your vocabulary and give you the tools to improve your grasp of the beautiful Dutch tongue.
How Dutch Short Stories for Beginners works:

• Each story is exciting and entertaining with realistic dialogues and day-to-day situations.
• The summaries follow a synopsis in Dutch and in English of what you just read, both to review the lesson and for you to see if you understood what the tale was about.
• At the end of those summaries, you’ll be provided with a list of the most relevant vocabulary involved in the lesson, as well as slang and sayings that you may not have understood at first glance!
• Finally, you’ll be provided with a set of tricky questions in Dutch, providing you with the chance to prove that you learned something in the story. Don’t worry if you don’t know the answer to any — we will provide them immediately after, but no cheating!

We want you to feel comfortable while learning the tongue; after all, no language should be a barrier for you to travel around the world and expand your social circles!

So look no further! Pick up your copy of Dutch Short Stories for Beginners and start learning Dutch right now!

Offered by ellecarterneal (author): The Convoluted Key is the first book in my new middle-grade fantasy series, Draconian Rules. Description: Unlock the door to adventure!
Debbie Torken and her brother Danny have heard rumours of the world where Magicians dwell. But when Danny is accidentally handed a Key that unlocks the realm of Magicas they are pitched into an adventure they never could have expected.
Tween witch Pippa Dracona prefers mathematics to magic, so the chance to attend a school in Physicas, the realm of science, was supposed to be a dream come true. But the Dame Ivy Newton School for Gifted and Unusual Students has too many archaic and nonsensical rules. Pippa is about to fail her favourite subject and lose her place in the course. When she makes a spur-of-the-moment decision to let the Torken children into the realm of magic, she might have made her worst choice yet … or, perhaps, her best.

It’s time to enlist the help of some eccentric friends, solve a bizarre mystery involving unicorns and missing belongings, and gain some much-needed perspective. After all, there are two sides to every equation.

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by TCoffey0126 (author): This is the spinoff series of A New World. Even though it has elements of magic, faeries, and the JROTC program, the story is about the Shifters from the Faery realm from the previous books! I hope you give this story a chance and fall in love with Christa and her determination to be more than ordinary.

Description: All I wanted was a family.

So I surrounded myself with the only friends I've ever had and joined JROTC so I could feel the love of a family unit.

When we went to a two-week summer camp in the mountains of Kentucky, Carter Rollins, the leader, tempted me with always being desired. If I joined his Army Pride, I'd have the connections I'd dreamed of.

Yet something was mystifying about the boy with eyes like an autumn sky. Maybe it was his rugged exterior or his entrancing demeanor. When a group of rogue campers took my friend Sarah and I, I never imagined how accurate my senses were.

A fictitious legend shifted before my eyes...

To escape, I will have to use every trick I've ever learned but getting out may lead me into the path of a deadlier enemy.

A Locket of No Particular Significance - The First Book of Weskerlee A Whimsical Historical Fantasy by Florien St John (Amazon KDP - Self Pub)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by FlorienStJohn (author): Debut Author Review Copies in all major Ebook formats prior to a July 5 release date. I hope you enjoy The First Book of Weskerlee - honest reviews appreciated in all of the usual places - LT, GR, AZ - trying to get a buzz going pre-launch while I work hard on the 2nd of a planned 4 in the series with planned prequel novellas in the works :)

Description: Can a GOOD Faerie turned BAD ever turn GOOD again?

Higher Faerie has banished unworthy Lesser Faerie from The Other-Lands.

Like it or not, the human realm of The Middle Counties and The Wild South is besieged.

When bookish Alisanne Frochard, a Vigilant apprentice studying Faerie Lore at Weskerlee Folly is tasked to track down a mischievous Dark Faerie alongside her handsome Captain whom she may or may not admire more than she ought, she hopes to prove herself worthy, or at the very least, tolerably capable.

Jasper Wintergreen and Faerydae Ib, two elite Nobles from Faerie, both hard-pressed to contain their natural proclivity for expressing excessive and elaborately ebullient expostulations, are unbeknown to the Vigilants, watching over them.

There's a Half-Faerie orphan if we are to believe what she says and she is never ever where she is thought to be. There is a riddle, heartrending lost love, a prologue, an enchanted locket and a blue feather in a hat worn for luck.

An almost Regency period historical fantasy of manners where the wit appears larger than the plot holes and where becoming lost in a fog in a bog somewhere east of Whirrel is only of concern during Autumn.

"Are you suggesting Captain that a Faerie might have wings? Like a bird? That's preposterous. Why, think of all that effort flapping one's arms getting from point A to point B when with just a small amount of magic, one could achieve the very same result. Without the flapping. Next, you will have us in nests gathering worms and shiny things. I'd be very embarrassed for any Faerie so small it must fly about like an insect, building tiny houses in the exposed roots of trees, dressed in nothing but Butterbell trousers. Have you ever worn Butterbell trousers Ib? Of course you haven't. No one has. I am not sure who is responsible for creating such an idle fantasy. Perhaps one of your literature types? There is nothing worse than a writer, who when they have nothing to write of consequence, find themselves seduced by the temptation to expostulate on what could or might be, instead of what is!" - The Good Faerie Jasper Wintergreen

Drop by Drop (poems of loss) by Judy Croome (Aztar Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by JudyCroome (author): Every care-giver's journey is unique. I hope this volume of poems detailing the journey's mercurial moods will be of comfort to people walking a similar path, and make them feel less alone. I'm offering the 50 eBooks as a gift to other people who are, or who know of others who are, walking the path of losing a loved one to a terminal illness. I hope that if my poems bring them comfort, the readers will share their thoughts in written reviews.

Description: Drop by Drop (poems of loss) To care for a terminally ill loved one is to enter into an experience from which neither hope nor regret can free you. You must live through the dying, the duty and the devotion. You must survive the sorrow. In this poetry collection, Judy Croome seeks the spiritual heart within the tangible realities of caring for her dying husband. Sometimes brutal and frank, often tender and compassionate, both lamentation and praise song, these personal poems refuse to cut emotional corners and yet evoke a haunting sense of higher meaning. The poems in DROP BY DROP go beyond the particular to speak of the deepest longings and darkest fears of the care-giving experience, while remaining sharply aware of how love transcends loss. Their story is one of workforce conflict with management who are running the high-pressured project that includes tales of work-related deaths, a hostile climate and mental health issues but was helped by humour, camaraderie and much more that is needed to get through a very demanding project on the other side of the world in the days before digital communication, with possibly only a letter once a week and three-minute phone call home once a month.
The story takes the reader from a barren part of the Island that previously had only seen cattle and sheep to an aircraft landing just over a year later. While the back-drop is construction, it is more a story of human endeavour.

Modernism by Michael Davies

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Mylibrevs (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

I hope you enjoy this book and post a review on Amazon.

Description: Prior to Vatican II, 80% of young people leaving Catholic schools practised the faith, today, 3% do. The much vaunted New Pentecost is seemingly no quite so awesome as the first. This catastrophic collapse is primarily the result of the heresy of Modernism, which has seeped into the Church’s blood stream like AIDs, sapping her vitality and reducing her to a shadow of her former self. Since Vatican II, with one or two honourable exceptions, Western sees have been filled by Rome with dreary, vacuous, bog-standard Modernists. Under the leadership of these men, Christ Body in the British Isles, and elsewhere, has simply haemorrhaged away? It is also no coincidence that the horribly sex-abuse scandals, mostly perpetrated by predatory sodomites, occurred on their watch.

To cure a disease, one must first understand it. In this booklet, Michael Davies uses his scholarship to lucidly expose the nature of this deadly virus in terms that all can understand.

Determined to have a better life for herself, she sets out on a singular path to achieving Hollywood stardom…via the outdoor lav. It’s a long slog and along the way she discovers that if you’re from Lancashire, you can never quite remove all traces of chip fat and clogs, no matter how many times you have Judy Garland round your upright, singing a torch song about ferrets. Fortunately, she never did. Her life may have turned out very differently, otherwise…

Offered by Mylibrevs (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

Description: ‘Ubon: The Last Camp Before Freedom’ is the untold story of a Japanese Prisoner of War camp created for three thousand men to construct an airstrip at Ubon in north-east Thailand.
It begins when Thailand became a Japanese ally, followed by the secret formation of the Seri Thai resistance movement by a prominent Thai politician to oppose Japanese domination. Eventually, the British Special Operations Executive arrived in the Ubon area to train the Seri Thai, but the Japanese surrender abruptly changed their plan. Extensive research in Ubon has revealed the camp’s daily life, its unorthodox liberation, and the exceptional generosity from Ubon’s citizens, which is commemorated by a lasting memorial. The story describes disarming the Japanese, identifying war criminals, and suppressing remaining resistance, which sometimes ended tragically.
It is a story of the faith held by the Prisoners of War, the Seri Thai, and the people of Thailand that one day the Japanese will be finished.

Description: In the early 1780s, the revolution that started with the Boston Tea Party was about to end with a fight over the Caribbean sugar bowl.

Stewart Dean, an American privateer, sailed his fast, well-armed boat, Nimrod, from the new United States into the tropical fray, and landed himself smack in the middle of “The Sweetest Deal of the American Revolution.”

Trapped in a web of international conflict, trade and diplomacy, he was saved by England’s growing taste for the 18th century’s most valuable commodity – sugar.

His release, in exchange for the entire 1782 sugar harvest of the Caribbean island of St. Kitts, was literally the sweetest deal of the Revolutionary War. Through it, England got its sugar. France got its way. And Dean got his freedom.

How and why it happened is a story of American enterprise, English stoicism and French self-interest.

Grandmother's Devil & Other Tempting Tales by Marty Malin (Canyon Rose Press)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by MartyMalin (author): I hope you will enjoy reading this collection of short stories as much as I enjoyed writing it. I would be happy to send you a copy and I hope, if you like it, you will leave a brief review. Thank you! Marty Malin.

Available on Amazon.com https://is.gd/doquwo

More information is available
at https://grandmothersdevil.com/

Description: Grandmother’s Devil and other Tempting Tales is a collection of six unconventional stories about imaginary grandmothers doing what they do best: caring for their loved ones and trying to keep them out of trouble. These are not the author’s grandmothers. Perhaps they are yours. Perhaps not. But it doesn’t really matter. Their stories will capture your imagination. The grandmothers will steal your heart.

The stories are:

"Grandmother Sits"
An old woman floats easily between worlds, none of them in as sharp relief as they once were. She spends her last hours on the front porch of her mid-west home, resting in her white wicker rocker, sipping lemonade from her favorite glass, the one with the stenciled lemons.

"Grandmother’s Predictions"
A dissolute young man is brought up short by a vintage fortune-telling automaton he has painstakingly restored. An eerie fortune-telling session drives him into the street naked and stark-raving mad. Who, indeed, is that nurse in the mental hospital?

"Grandmother of God"
Hannah writes the story of her grandson’s life and excruciating death at the hands of occupying Romans, a testament against the lies of foolhardy rebels and zealots that grow ever more fantastic in the retelling.

"Grandmother Naked"
A widow finds new meaning to her life as a model for a life drawing class, only to find illicit nude photos and degrading tweets posted online. She takes her revenge.

"Grandmother’s Devil"
An otherworldly being watches over a comatose grandmother molested by an unscrupulous male nurse. Grandmother’s Devil intends to drag the nurse’s soul screaming into hell, but Grandmother has other plans.

"Grand-mère le Cigare"
A cigar-rolling Cuban virgin becomes the matriarch of a Napa Valley dynasty, having seduced a French brandy maker seeking his fortune in America. She shepherds her grandson from humiliating failure to a fairy-tale marriage to his childhood sweetheart.

The Eager Detective (Restoring an expired copyright file) by Andre Michael Pietroschek (BookRix)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by AMP1972 (author): I hope that I receive the kind of reviews, which tell readers what they get, and in what degree of quality. I need to critics here, as it is about reviews. Some sentences on story, prose, grammar, format, and, if the reviewer considers the pricing fair-enough would be fine. Not more than one DinA5 page in review-length, please!

Description: Artists, world-wide, are a special kinda people, avant-garde, open-minded, and capable of feeding from trashcans one moment, and rising to shine the proverbial bauble the next!

To some of us, artists may just be glorified prostitutes, to others they are geniuses, or lazy folks prone to fall for any kind of substance abuse. But fact is artists have always been a special 'in-between' social class to the people. In touch with politics, sometimes religion, and often targets of organized crime.

No surprise then that bloody murder and detective noir stories have been known throughout the ages. This one here is about a private detective too eager, for his own good. It is a long-hours effort to revive an expired copyright story I enjoyed myself. It plays in the golden age of the genre, the 1940's, with America at war to stop Hitler's monstrosities in Europe and a Tenno gone tyrant in the Pacific.

I tried very hard to combine a classic streak, a fitting prose, and some humor here, all in time-efficient minimalism to enjoy reading it on tablet, or smartphone kinda screens!

"Grandma's Touch will take you down the memory lane, but it ends on a jerking twist. The Call-Center is a good piece that will surprise you towards the end......

"The language and style of narration are very good. I liked the brevity in general." - Reader

"They are well written and in good English. The plots are well thought out...."- Reader

The Road to Vermilion Lake by Vic Cavalli (NY: Harvard Square Editions)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by VicCavalli (author): If you are interested in environmental literary fiction, enter for a chance to win an eBook copy of The Road to Vermilion Lake. The author will send PDF and MOBI files directly to the winners.

Description: “The novel tells the story of . . . Thomas Neal Tems, a blaster’s assistant and first-aid attendant who lives and works on a construction site beside a glorious, remote lake. The site is being developed by a Swiss company into an ecologically friendly village, and Thomas begins a romance with the talented and imaginative architect who designed the site, a devout Catholic. The world that the characters must navigate, however, is decidedly not a romantic one. It is marked by painful past experiences, dysfunctional families, tragic accidents, alcoholism, and drug overdoses, all of which seem to derive from an inability to reach beyond the superficiality of existence. And yet, this is a world of second chances, for those who desire to change their imaginative perspective, to seek a sense of depth and enchantment that is deeply embedded in the tangible world, particularly in the body and in the natural world, as well as in the creative world of contemplative thought.”

Lake of Urine, A Love Story by Guillermo Stitch (Sagging Meniscus)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by GuillermoStitch (author): I would like to offer 5 signed copies, ideally in return for much needed reviews here and on other sites—the usual candidates.

It may not be possible to get signed copies to North American recipients.

The book is due out on July 1st and is already generating buzz:

“LAKE OF URINE is a weird and unique gem—hilarious and eerie and oddly heartfelt, full of images and bits of language that will lodge permanently in your head.”
Dan Chaon, author of Ill Will

“Absolutely savage...absurdly funny...truly original...In a story that takes us from a parochial redneck backwater to the sparkly lights of Big City and back again, we (loosely) follow the fate of the Wakeling sisters, both of them casualties of their monstrous mother, Emma Wakeling. A supporting cast of batshit crazies, all clawing for their share of the limelight, dance onstage and off again as we reel from one delicious scene to another and the plotline shifts from now to then, from here to there and back to here. If that sounds a little chaotic, I can only assure you that the chaos is strictly in the comedy. The novel itself is as tight as a fist and punches twice as hard.”
Anne Cunningham, book critic, Irish Independent

“Exploring this world is an absolute delight. At every turn we encounter new depths of depravity, new heights of brilliance… and all of it is rendered in prose that is smart and squalid and layered enough to evoke – and perhaps even rival – James Joyce. Lake of Urine is an anarchic, whip-smart ride through a world that mashes together the real and the impossible, the noble and the gaudy, the base and the divine. It is filmic, quick, dirty, and fuelled by an unstoppable energy from the first page to the last.”
Krishan Coupland, Neon

“This is the type of book I adore: intelligent, whimsically hilarious, and unapologetically bizarre. It is everything I love about surrealism and bizarro put together in one masterpiece. Without hyperbole, I can say that it is my favorite modern bizarre novel.”
Zé Burns, zeburns.com

Description: Once upon a time that doesn’t make a blind bit of sense, in a place that seems awfully familiar but definitely doesn’t exist, Willem Seiler’s obsession with measuring his world—with wrapping it up in his beloved string to keep the madness out—wreaks havoc on the Wakeling family. Noranbole Wakeling, living in the scrub and toil of the pantry and in the shadow of her much wooed and cosseted sister, is worshipped by the madman Seiler but overlooked by everyone else. As lives are lost to Seiler’s vanity, she spots her chance to break free of the fetters that tie her to Tiny Village, and bolts. But some cords are never really cut. In her absence, the unravelling of the world she has escaped is complete, and another madness—her mother’s—reaches out to entangle her newfound Big City freedom. The unpicked quilt-work of a life in ruins threatens to ruin her own, and it will be up to Noranbole to stitch it all together.

Dark and funny in equal measure, LAKE OF URINE is a sui generis romp through every fairy-tale convention and literary trope you can think of, including the wicked stepmother, the fairy godmother, Pinocchio, an enchanted penis, the goose that laid the golden egg, binary code, marmalade art and alcoholic meat snacks you can drink. It is also a merciless takedown of self and self-importance, satirizing a society that exalts the inane, drowns out the sane and eschews the divine for the profane, and a lament for the dreadful weight of our own origins, for the heartbreaking impossibility of absolute reinvention, and the heartening tug of the ties that bind us.

Offered by LesleyKagenAuthor (author): Enter to win a signed advanced reader copy of Wisconsin Library Association Notable Author and New York Times bestselling author Lesley Kagen.

Description: "Filled with secrets, lies, and all the truth of what it is to be human, especially in a small town, Every Now and Then is a story every heart will embrace.”
—William Kent Krueger, New York Times bestselling author of This Tender Land

That summer would change us . . . forever.

The summer of 1960 was the hottest ever for Summit, Wisconsin. For kids seeking relief from the heat, there was a creek to be swum in, sprinklers to run through, and ice cream at Whitcomb's Drugstore. But for Frankie, Viv, and Biz, eleven-year-old best friends, it would forever be remembered as the summer that evil paid a visit to their small town—and took their young lives as they'd known them as a souvenir.

With a to-do list in hand, the girls set forth from their hideout to make their mark on that summer, but when three patients escape from Broadhurst Mental Institution, their idyllic lives take a sinister turn. Determined to uncover long-held secrets, the girls have no idea that what they discover could cost them their lives and the ones they hold dear.

Six decades later, Biz, now a bestselling novelist, remembers that long ago summer and how it still haunts her and her lifelong friends in Every Now and Then, a story about the ties that bind us, the timelessness of friendship—and the everlasting hope for redemption.
