Siege Chronicles - The Complete Series by Mark William Chase (New Realm Books)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by mwchase (author): I am giving away copies of Siege Chronicles - The Complete Series in exchange for reviews. I prefer reviews on the book's page on Amazon.com, but you may also put the review on Goodreads and here on LibraryThing. Thank you kindly in advance!

Description: Sell-spell sorcerers, vampire operatives, killer automatons, and a heist to nab a legendary dragon stone from the clutches of the Grand Imperium. It's all in a day's work for Davrick Caliburn.

Siege Chronicles: The Complete Series brings together all six novellas into a single epic volume recounting the high-flying, gun-blazing, spell-blasting adventures of Davrick Caliburn, Sid Voltelion, and Talyaana Rae. Taking place during the momentous events of the world-spanning War of Wars, the intrepid mercenary team find themselves caught up in one death-defying battle after another. Along the way, they pick up a host of allies, forming a rag-tag band of renegades determined to bring an end to the diabolical machinations of the shadowy Tenebrean Order.

This is a fantasy steampunk action-adventure. There is fighting with swords, guns, and explosions, but it is not depicted in a gory way. There is little profanity (PG level) and no sexual content. This book consists of all six novella length books of the series, and is approximately 180,000 words long.

Author by Sandra Wendel (Write On Ink Publishing)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by SandraWendel (author): Readers are often writers. Are you a first-time author? Thinking about writing a book? Don’t make first-time author mistakes. Even if you slept through English class, and you don’t know a preface from a foreword or a comma from a clause, you do need to work with a professional editor. Turn your vulnerability about your writing into confidence with these insider secrets to publishing success from a veteran book editor. Read THIS book before you publish YOUR book. My goal, as author and as an editor, is to reach the first-time authors who call me every day and help them reach their book publishing goals. I can only help one author at a time with editing. Through this book I share my editing wisdom with many more aspiring best-selling authors. Is that you?

Description: “Irreverent.” “Funny.” “Essential.” Read this book before you publish your book. You just wrote your first book. And there you are. Stark naked. Vulnerable. Wondering what to do next to get your masterpiece published. This is the one book you need to read and follow if you’re writing a book for the first time. Why? Because you’ve never written a book before. This is new territory. To write a successful book, you need to find and work with an editor who shares your passion for your work and your message and who will help you make your book sing. And sing a smash hit. A blockbuster of a message, clearly and carefully constructed so readers love you and your work and leave you five-star Amazon reviews only because they don’t have more stars to give. This is a toolkit for tinkering under the hood of your working manuscript so you, the author, can take your work as far as you can before an edit and production such as cover design and not dump a half-baked chocolate cake on some poor schlub of an editor to “fix.”

Don’t make first-time author mistakes. No matter what you think, you do need an edit. Not the English teacher next door. You can’t self-edit either. A professional editor knows how to navigate those thorny commas and can solve your organizational questions. An editor can guide you through the murky waters of modifiers and passive sentences, correct typos, and get your book manuscript polished and on its way to production.Even if you slept through English class, never turned in book reports, and don’t know a thing about publishing the book of your dreams, your name is on the cover and you don’t want to be embarrassed. Turn your vulnerability into confidence with these insider secrets to publishing success when working with an editor. No, this is not a grammar book (ick) or a guide to self-editing (can’t be done well). This is not a dry, boring book about usage or sentence structure.Although the author, a veteran nonfiction editor, specializes in memoir, true crime, business/leadership, and self-help, her advice holds true for fiction writers as well.Get your questions answered (and more):

  • Why do I need an editor? How do I find an editor? What do editors do? And how much do they cost?
  • What are the levels of edit? Developmental? Line edit? Copy edit? Proofreading? How do I know what level of editing my manuscript needs?
  • Will an editor tell me if my manuscript sucks?
  • Why do words make a difference? Which words do I overuse? Which words should I never use?
  • How do I know when I’m done writing?
  • How can I work with a cover designer and audiobook engineer?
  • Can my local bookstore help me? Do I need beta readers?

BONUS: Checklist for Authors to Fine-Tune a Manuscript before Editing BeginsBUY a copy today, because you need to know these insider secrets to successfully work with an editor on your way to publishing success.Sandra Wendel is a highly experienced book editor who specializes in helping authors write, polish, and publish their nonfiction manuscripts. Her greatest joy in editing is working with authors who have a story to tell. Writing Craft Volume 1: Are You Ready to Publish? And Other Burning Questions by DeAnna Knippling (Wonderland Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by dknippling (author): Hi! Just looking for reivews :) This is an ongoing series. This book covers "how to survive as a writer." I'll be posting future volumes as I get them published.

Description: Fiction Writers: Lost? Stuck? Stressed?

What writer hasn't asked themselves how they will know when their story is ready to publish? Or how to handle feedback about their stories? Or what to do if they get stuck?

Or, worse, makes a mistake that causes a social media outburst?

Writing Craft Volume 1: Are You Ready to Publish? & Other Burning Questions will answer those questions and more, and give practical advice on a few topics that most writers don't think about ahead of time, like:

How to set up reading goals that help you understand the genres you want to write in.
How to study fiction in a way that improves your craft and helps you assess others' advice.
How to start addressing the business aspects of a writing career so you don't get lost in the promotional weeds.
And, perhaps even more importantly, why.

Writing Craft Volume 1 is all about the care and feeding of writers, the big (and small) issues that can derail a career before it even gets started. But it also provides fundamental concepts about business and craft that can start (gently!) improving your career in the slow, everyday steps that make for lasting and versatile changes.

We'll even talk about how to move forward with your work when all you can see are its imperfections.

If you're struggling to turn a gift for writing into a sustainable, repeatable practice that doesn't depend on mood or inspiration, Writing Craft Volume 1: Are You Ready to Publish? & Other Burning Questions provides a road map for clearing practical and creative blockages out of the way, while introducing craft-development strategies that will last a lifetime.

If you're feeling like you can't write better because you're not writing much at all, Writing Craft Volume 1 is where to start.

Join DeAnna Knippling, veteran writer and ghostwriter of over 70 novels, on a deep, analytical, curiosity-driven dive into the fundamental concepts of good fiction writing in the Writing Craft series. Not only is Writing Craft a handbook breaking down well-known fiction techniques from pacing to red herrings, but at its heart, it is a method to research and invent your own.

Above all, Writing Craft is a book about writing that doesn't just tell you what to do…but addresses and explores the reasons why, so you can decide for yourself.

Buy a copy today, and start understanding why you feel lost—stuck—and stressed by one of the most enjoyable activities known to humankind: playing make-believe.

The Odd and The Srange: A Collection of Very Short Fiction by Harvey Havel

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Harvey.Havel (author): The Author of this book, Harvey Havel, is requesting honest reviews of this book by great readers. Also, feel free to purchase his other books online, either in paperback or eBook format. Available everywhere.

Description: “Some stories are less Borges and more Stephen Crane (author of The Red Badge of Courage): bleak, violent. Like “Lightning Love,” narrated by a wife whose husband changes into something (the twist at the end is brilliant). Others are political fables, like “Santa Claus and Madam Secretary,” which makes Havel’s proclivities as clear as the image on a 98-inch TV. The Odd and The Strange is quite an accomplishment: unusual, provocative, and honest. Mixing the fabulism of Jorge Luis Borges with the bleakness of Stephen Crane, the tales contained in Harvey Havel’s The Odd and The Strange draw the reader into a world they won’t soon forget.” ——- IndieReader

“The focus is on unusual occurrences with extraordinary outcomes. It encompasses the deepest thoughts of man and the results they produce. Although the storylines are bizarre, the author makes the characters relatable and the events realistic. The author challenges profound minds to understand his narration. If you're going to read this book, you have to think out of the box — the short stories aren't conventional. What I like most about this book is the author's writing style. Each sentence has a deep meaning to it. The author's choice of words is direct, yet with a powerful effect. The author's ability to infuse a story in just a few paragraphs is commendable.” ——- Online Book Club

Witch in the White City: A Historical Fantasy/Mystery by Nick Wisseman

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by nickwisseman (author): Hi! Thanks for your interest. I'm hoping to get honest reviews in exchange for a free ARC of Witch in the White City. Much appreciated!

Description: Hundreds of exhibits. Millions of visitors. One supernatural killer.

Neva's goals at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago are simple. Enjoy the spectacle—perhaps the greatest the United States has ever put on (the world’s fair to end all world’s fairs!). Perform in the exposition’s Algerian Theatre to the best of her abilities. And don't be found out as a witch.

Easy enough … until the morning she looks up in the theatre and sees strangely marked insects swarming a severed hand in the rafters. Before she can scream, the bugs drop and swarm her.

And every one of them seems to have a stinger.

They strike fast—it only takes them a moment to inject her with so much venom that the same strange marks begin to rise on her skin. She's horrified, but there's worse to come: once the insects disperse, a Columbian Guard notices her rashes and warns that five people with similar sores have been murdered and dismembered. Before they died, the victims also seem to have lost their minds.

Neva considers fleeing the exposition. But that won't stop her from going mad. So she marshals her powers and searches for the killer.

Soon enough, it becomes clear he's searching for her too.

An intricate story with a breakneck pace, Witch in the White City blends history, mystery, and magic in a way that will appeal to fans of The Devil in the White City, The Golem and the Jinni, and Black Leopard, Red Wolf.

The House of Ilya by Richard Brock (KDP)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by evich (author): This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

I am the author of The House of Ilya. I am offering a limited number of copies to interested readers. Of course, I am interested in developing a wider audience and hope to get honest and candid reviews.

Description: You will like this book if you liked Cold Mountain, The Revenant, Homer's Odyssey, Doctor Zhivago, or The Way Back (Film).

It is primarily a love story about lovers pulled thousands of miles apart and then finally returning to each other. Sub- themes include action and adventure, and magical realism. The setting is an accurate historical portrayal of nineteenth century Russia and the fur trade in Alaska.

I hope you like my book.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Anton and Nadia fall quickly in love. Sadly, their love is not to be and they are forced to opposite ends of the Russian Empire. After three years of tumultuous change, loss of noble status, and no sure means of making a living, they reunite in avant-garde Irkutsk Siberia to make a new life.

Lt. Anton Niktovich is an orphaned Zaporizhian Cossack secretly adopted by a noble but childless Russian couple. He never learns of his roots and believes he is a Russian of noble birth. He enters the military and is assigned a dangerous mission to engage with a fierce tribe called Tlingits in Alaska. He must travel from St. Petersburg to Alaska guided by a mysterious Cossack named Ilya. On his way, he meets dreamy Nadia and they quickly fall in love. But she must journey to St. Petersburg. By coincidence, Ilya (or by design), the same Cossack is also her guide. While in St. Petersburg, a family secret is revealed ousting Nadia from noble society. Meanwhile in Alaska, Anton takes revenge on three Russians for the murders of Tlingit Indians he has befriended. In so doing, he subjects himself to court martial and expulsion from nobility.
Stripped of their social rank, expelled from civilized society, and separated by thousands of miles: will they reunite; will they find a way of making a living; and are they still in love after three years apart?

Destroyer by Amo Sulaiman (Mirador Publishing, UK)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by amo555 (author): MOBI COPY FOR REVIEWS

Description: Mr, Cougar knows the time of his death.

The Timeman can trap and enslave his soul.

However, souls are community entities not a metaphysical item the Timeman should control.

Due to knowing the time of his imminent demise, Mr. Cougar wants to give his loving family and dearest friends a farewell to remember. Without fear he also tells his precious daughter, who is thrown into a state of bewilderment, caught between love and community reprisal.

Since death cannot be commanded, the unknown force of the Timeman wields it, and Mr. Cougar is an unequal adversary. The Timeman manifests himself as the Destroyer, and yet he also keeps the souls he collects. In this struggle the two, protagonist and antagonist, seek the truth between the mind and the body, using the soul as the prize.

“The Destroyer is a fast-paced novel with well-crafted characters. It is about Mr. Cougar who knows what none of us know: the exact date and time when his death will occur. As words spreads of this upcoming event, people come from all over with reactions of disbelief, fear, anger, and sadness.” Dr. Walter Businger, Bern University of Applied Sciences.

"Dr. Amo Sulaiman is a writer of philosophical fiction. The Destroyer explores the mind/body tension from the angle of death and time. Told as a gripping account of a man's close relationship with his daughter, the novel is both deep and accessible.” Dr Sämi Ludwig, Department of English, University of Berne, Switzerland.

The Road to Vermilion Lake by Vic Cavalli (Harvard Square Editions)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by VicCavalli (author): If you are interested in eco-fiction, request an eBook copy of The Road to Vermilion Lake. The author will send MOBI and PDF files directly to the winners selected by LibraryThing.

Upon its original publication, The Road to Vermilion Lake was reviewed in Edinburgh Book Review, Pacific Rim Review of Books, Midwest Book Review, and Literary Review (UK).

Description: “The novel tells the story of . . . Thomas Neal Tems, a blaster’s assistant and first-aid attendant who lives and works on a construction site beside a glorious, remote lake. The site is being developed by a Swiss company into an ecologically friendly village, and Thomas begins a romance with the talented and imaginative architect who designed the site, a devout Catholic. The world that the characters must navigate, however, is decidedly not a romantic one. It is marked by painful past experiences, dysfunctional families, tragic accidents, alcoholism, and drug overdoses, all of which seem to derive from an inability to reach beyond the superficiality of existence. And yet, this is a world of second chances, for those who desire to change their imaginative perspective, to seek a sense of depth and enchantment that is deeply embedded in the tangible world, particularly in the body and in the natural world, as well as in the creative world of contemplative thought.”
