Andrew J. Peters
Talking Leaves Books, Saturday, May 17 at 3pm
Join Andrew for a reading and a discussion of his new, young adult fantasy The Seventh Pleiade.

Andrew is an author, an activist, and an educator. He grew up in Amherst, NY in the 1980s when coming out was akin to social suicide. Andrew studied psychology at Cornell University, got his own head on "straight," and devoted his career to making things better for LGBT youth. He is a founder of a national model 'Coffeehouse' where LGBT teens can safely gather, take part in creative arts, and get help from adults if they need it.

A lifelong writer, Andrew likes retold stories with a subversive twist, particularly when that twist turns heteronormativity on its head. He is the author of The Seventh Pleiade, which reimagines the fall of Atlantis from a gay teenagers perspective. His Werecat series - Werecat: The Rearing and Werecat: The Glaring - combines shapeshifter adventure, native feline mysticism, and the joys and discontents of new adult gay romance. A former Lambda Literary Foundation Fellow, Andrew has written short fiction for many publications. He is an administrator and an adjunct professor at Adelphi University. (ayjayp)
