This book, a follow-up to the popular The Story of Snow, introduces you and your child to the many natural forms of ice and the influences that ice has on us and the Earth.

Although you may be somewhat familiar with glaciers and icebergs, perhaps you have never traveled through a thunderstorm to see how ice gives the storm its electricity. You may also be wonderfully surprised at all the forms of ice you can see or experience both in winter and in summer.

Crunchy needle ice? Cat ice? How about the exceedingly white and fluffy hair ice or ribbon ice? Hoar frost and film frost? The book provides a tick list to encourage the child (and parent) to seek these and many other forms of ice. And though the book presents the ice in an easy-to-follow story, it offers plenty of scientific details for those interested in learning more.

Also included in the 56-page book are fun facts and parent/teacher guided activities to further connect ice to topics in weather, chemistry, and physics.
