DescriptionsEdit Descriptions
- Since 1971, both initial publications and successful Suhrkamp titles have appeared in the suhrkamp taschenbuch (st) series. The paperback series, in which more than 3,100 titles have been published to date, started with Beckett's Waiting for Godot. Volume 2 was Wilhelm Tell for Schools by Max Frisch, whose novels Homo faber and Andorra achieved the highest circulations, followed by Hesse's Steppenwolf and Siddhartha. Within the series there was also the Phantastische Bibliothek with around 360 specially numbered volumes, published by Franz Rottensteiner from 1976 to 1998. Important authors from the field of fantasy and science fiction were often made accessible to the German market for the first time here. German authors were also published here. In May 1996, the Romane des Jahrhunderts sub-series opened, featuring the 'best of the best'. The suhrkamp nova trade paperback series was founded at the end of the 2000s.
