About meHobbies include reading (duh!), writing, drawing/doodling, gardening, embroidery, animals, watching movies, playing games (both old-fashioned board games or card games and video games), coloring, and nature walks (or just walking for the sake of walking sometimes). I'm also currently looking for pen pals (the snail mail kind), as I have tons of stationery and cards that I really need to start using up. Interested? Contact me here first.

About my libraryWhile I don't have as much time to devote to reading as I would like (darn things like work get in the way), I have amassed too many books for my shelves, and so I have literal "to read" piles. Literal. As in, books stacked from the floor to about 4 feet high against my north wall, in multiple piles. (I jokingly refer to that as my extra insulation during winter months.) Favorite subjects and genres include fantasy, mystery, horror, sci-fi, children's and YA fiction, funeral customs, occult and supernatural, animals and plants, weather, history (up to and including the Renaissance--the deader the better), diseases and medical issues, food history, folklore and fairy tales, and a lot of other things. (I have eclectic tastes.) Having never outgrown the love of coloring, with the adult coloring craze, I started a decently-sized and growing collection of coloring books, some of which are purchased from local artists who have self-published.

I acquire many of these through the typical LT member ways, I suspect--library sales, used book stores (my favorite is the one my fiance in Muncie, Indiana owns--shameless plug for The White Rabbit Used Books), and places like Goodwill and Salvation Army stores. Plus, I'm an academic librarian by trade so I have plenty of interesting books that I get to check out from our shelves and read during my lunch time and breaks, usually nonfiction.
