About meI am in my senior year at a small university in the midwest of Texas. God willing, I'll graduate in 2008 with a BA in English and a minor in Communications. I keep busy with many things like working in the costume shop at the theatre, participating in Alpha Psi Omega (theatre honor society) activities, keeping up with classwork, writing for the college paper, working in an office on campus, and trying to find time to write and read for leisure, as well as the odd hysterical breakdown.

I keep track of the books I'm currently reading on my Facebook, and a running tally of the books I've completed each year in my profiles at LiveJournal and Readerville.com.

I also keep a running To Be Read list as an Amazon.com wishlist, where I can file away titles that look interesting for future reference.

Over the years I've learned not to loan out hardbacks or special books to just anyone--you never know when a perfectly nice person will turn out to be the sort who dog-ears innocent pages--so when I particularly like I book I always take advantage of the chance to pick up another copy of it to lend out or give away. These are tagged with 'lending copy' in my library, and if you're interested in one of them, please leave a comment or send me an email! I'm always happy to mail-loan books and spread the love.

About my libraryI was raised on fantasy and classics--my dad read The Lord of the Rings to me for the first time when I was five years old, and that book experience has in many ways set the tone for my entire readerly life. In addition to reading anything and everything that catches my attention, when I'm reading for sheer escapism I particularly like fantasy, urban fantasy, some science fiction, and folklore--I am fascinated by folklore. I also like memoirs, especially travel memoirs, reference books, comics/graphic novels, and select manga.

Only a fraction of my library is in my catalog right now, because the majority of my books are in boxes in my parents' garage, although my compulsive book-buying habits mean that there are always books attempting to take over my tiny apartment. When my life (and my shelves) are a little more settled and I'm not constantly on the verge of massive life-changes (graduating from college and trying to find a career, for instance), I hope to start working my way through the hundreds of books that I own but haven't read (tagged as 'unread' in my library). Someday they will succeed in driving out my roommates and keeping me their prisoner inside a blockade of books until I have finished my entire to-be-read stack.

I'm looking forward to it.
