About My Library

I read almost anything, but fantasy will always have the number one place in my heart. I'm also a big fan of fiction with a historical bent, YA, art and design, poetry, graphic novels. If you give me a well built world with compelling characters, I'm IN!

About Me

Archivist by day, book addict by night.

My love for books started at a young age, with weekly trips to the library where I would sign out as many books as I could carry - especially books about re-imagined fairytales. When I was in grade school I discovered Star Wars, and once I had read through the selection available for children and teens I quickly demanded access to the adult section. Thankfully the librarians and my parents were understanding that I am a reader who cannot be tamed, and I was given free reign by grade 3! My childhood interest in fairytales quickly evolved when I was a teenager to embrace the fantasy genre, with authors like Charles de Lint, Jane Yolen, Diana Wynne Jones, and Neil Gaiman leading the way.

After high school I enrolled in a dual major History and English Literature degree, with plans to complete a Masters in Library and Information Studies afterwards. By 2013 I was a certified librarian, but happenstance in the job market and my interest in history led me to work in the field of museums and archives, which is where I am today!

My passion for books continues, and there's nothing I love more than perusing thrift shops and charity sales for amazing book finds, gifting friends with their next favourite read, and chatting with people who like the same books as I do!
